In Hindu mythology Nandi is revered as the sacred bull and vahana of Lord Shiva. It is the gate guardian deity of Kailasha. In Sanskrit etymology, Nandi means happiness, joy and satisfaction. It is opined to be chief guru of eight disciples of Nandinatha Sampradaya; sits here in a sharp poise and the broadened eyes vigilant of any mishap. The sculptor has utilized his utmost skills and perfection while carving out this Nandi sculpture. The shape of its ears, horns and face displays extreme realistic attributes.


The artist has decorated the sculpture using multiple reconstituted stones inlayed elegantly forming a beautiful saddle. The turquoise blue base and the thick red border highlight the big red and blue flower patterns and golden vines in a very charming way. Nandi statues are a common sight in Hindu temples and it is always seen as standing in front of Lord Shiva, as it is considered to be the greatest devotee of Lord.
