From the Jacket:

In these days of wanton killing and devastation, if I can say something about human compassion, then that perhaps is the only way to combat the horrors we are being forced to live through and live with...

In this remarkably candid interview with his dose friend, scholar and critic Samik Bandyopadhyay, Mrinal Sen reminisces about a long and eventful life in cinema, weaving into it a rich matrix of socio-political, literary and cultural movements that have proved to be of lasting influence in his art. Internationally and nationally renowned personalities from the worlds of cinema, theatre, literature and politics throng these pages, recreating the vibrant times that both Sen and Bandyopadhyay have lived through.
