Book Description
Introduction

It was mistaken by some foreign scholars and by some Indians also who followed them that all kinds of knowledge related to nation and nationalism came to India from other countries. To dispel such an illusion, the book Rashtra-Manjusha has been prepared, which is a compendium of all good verses related to national development. It is expected that this book related to the nation will help the readers to know the real facts about the various facet of the nation and principles of its governance etc.

At the beginning of creation, when Omniscient God induced the Divine knowledge into the minds of sages in the form of the Vedas, the national aspects came into existence from the very first day. From beginning up to this date, many Sanskrit works have developed the ideals of nationalism, such as Smrtis, books of politics and other books etc.

In this book, the verses related to nationalism have been collected from the Vedas, Smrtis, Epics, Poetry books, Dramas and other books related to politics. The ideas of foreign scholars are also given in verses. The system of government of India, which was in vogue, may also be seen in this book. This book contains 2525 Verses. Other useful verses are also given in appendix.

The study of this book will not only develop the power of elocution, but also make us realize with pride that our ancestors, rishis and munis had been giving deep thought to the various aspects of nationalism. It is hoped that this book will be helpful for the administrators and also for those who wish to know the system of administration in ancient times.

We are grateful to all those, who gave good advice from time to time. It is expected that this book will he helpful to promote the prestige of India in the eyes of foreign scholars.

Publisher's words

Having gained encouragement by the popularity of 'Manjula-Manjusa' and 'Siksa-Manjusa' and from some knowledgable persons, I made up my mind to get such a book prepared in which good sayings be collected which may throw light on the national aspects. This resulted in preparation of 'Rastra-Manjusa', which will help to develop national attitude among the readers.

After taking decision to publish such a book, I requested Sh. Ved Prakash Shastri, my respectable friend, to prepare such a book. Accepting my request, he edited this book with the help of Dr. Puran Chand Tandon Sr. Reader, Dept. of Hindi, Delhi University. I am grateful to both of the editors and I also thank those gentleman whose work has been included in the appendix.

The following points have been in mind while preparing this book:- (1) No mistake be left in its proof-reading and the publication should be of excellent quality.

(2) The references of all verses should be given as far as possible.

(3) The purpose of every verse should be shown briefly.

(4) Every verse should also be written in Roman script along with Devanagari script.

(5) Every verse should be translated not only into Hindi but in English also, so that the book may also be useful for those who don't have a complete knowledge of Hindi.

If I miss to thank those scholars, whose advice has helped me off and on, it will be sheer ungratefulness. So, I thank all of them from the core of my heart and hope that this book may be helpful to develop national consciousness.
