An exhibition of 25 thangkas arranged on this theme travelled to three European countries in 1995.
Tibetan painting tradionally appears in three principal environments: as wall frescoes; as adornments to hand-copied manuscripts; and as thangkas or 'scroll paintings.' This exhibition focussed on the last of these three. The present volume contains detailed descriptions and beautifully produced color plates of all the thangkas exhibited.
