Book Description
About The Book

The authors, through 100 quotes, meaningfully and vividly delve deep into varied aspects and means of happiness. Each quote has a stimulating painting of Lord Ganesha, the Lord of Peace, Prosperity and Wisdom, representing its theme. While many of these thought- provoking and enlightening quotes are from highly reputed global personalities, some are the own creations of the authors.

Happiness, the ultimate purpose in one's life, is a feeling of joy, satisfaction, peace of mind, contentment and equanimity. It is distinctly different from pleasure, which is short lived. Happiness comes through correct means – dutifulness, integrity, purity of thoughts, righteousness and virtue. It is a bliss and cannot be achieved by wrong means. Happiness always rebounds on the giver. To remain in this realm one should follow some simple rules. This book is an earnest attempts to put up those simple fundamentals.

Preface

Happiness is a feeling of peace; it is the gratification of the heart and sou. It constitutes a sense of peace and satisfaction, of gladness and enchantment, of fulfilment and tranquillity, of calm and serenity. It is an internal realization and can only be realized from within. No amount of outward success can bring us satisfaction and no amount of pleasure pursuits can make us happy if we are not at peace inside.

Happiness is often confused with pleasure. Pleasure is an enjoyable or agreeable sensation or emotion, amusement, recreation or gratification of the senses. It is derived from outside sources and is short lived. Happiness, on the other hand, is a feeling of joy or gladness, satisfaction and peace of mind, contentment and equanimity. It is an inner realization. One thing sure about happiness is that happiness is always possible and you always have ample reasons to be happy. Pleasure can never take the place of happiness.

All of us want to be happy and are looking for ways to be so. We want to unfold the secrets of happiness, which is our ultimate aim. No possession or achievement can have any meaning if it cannot make us happy. Happiness cannot be achieved by wrong means. We have to deserve it and deserve it right, with right action and purity of thoughts. No one else can make us happy. We have to learn to be happy ourselves. Challenging and skilled work with an element of competition can be very satisfying, stimulating, meaningful and a positive source of happiness. Positive actions will bring positive results as long as there are no negative motives behind them. We should also remember that happiness always rebounds on the giver.

To be truly happy, our work and achievements should be in consonance with our value systems and the meaning we have given to our lives, we have to be honest with our intentions and actions, from the bottom of our heart. It needs a solid base and an honest and harmonious character. It also needs us to be independent, courageous and co-operative. There is no end to wanting more and you should never postpone being happy in the hope of finding yourself in a better or perfect situation someday.

To be really happy and happy for a long time, just be careful about some basic rules. You should be willing to improve what you can and accept what you cannot improve or change. Worrying solves no problems and as long as you are worrying you cannot be happy. You should not allow public opinion to dominate your lives and criticism should not put you down. Forgiveness liberates you from the thoughts of anger and resentment, whereas holding back anger and resentment burn you from inside.

Your peace of mind depends on your thoughts. If you try to keep your miseries to yourselves and hide them from the public eye, it adds to your sense of unhappiness. Live your life with integrity and according to your conscience, your wants and your needs, and remember that the problems are a part of life. Remember, life is beautiful and you have only one life to live.

Happiness is a state of mind, and as such, everyone expects it to be easily attainable, but we also know that this is not really so, unless we understand how to remain happy in all conditions. In order to support and show easy ways and means of getting happiness for our beloved readers, we have conceived the idea of this book with quotes on happiness, which should certainly teach you much more in a few hours than a lifetime of bumbling around and instantly benefit you.

This book is a compilation of 100 carefully chosen quotations on Happiness, created, modified and mixed. Some of the thoughts presented are ours and others are from the people who have stood by and worked for values; some were famous and others were ordinary people. We have acknowledged separately the persons who have been quoted, wherever we could remember. Our sincere thanks to all these great personalities and eminent writers, who have given such invaluable thoughts to this world. Any amendment/addition is most welcome from the readers.

Ganesha gives peace, prosperity and wisdom and, therefore, each of the quotes in this book has a painting of Lord Ganesha to inspire you. These paintings have been created by our professional artists keeping in mind the themes of individual quotes.

We prostrate before our parents Smt Kanchan Devi and Shri Bhairav Lal Kogata, and Smt Kamla Devi Nuwal and the late Prof. K.M. Nuwal for their benign blessings that have inspired us to devote ourselves to this cause.
