About The Book

The evolution of human race to its present state is due to constant endeavour of each parents to see that even at the cost of their own discomfort, their children move ahead and achieve, what even they could not for any reason. The aim of education liberates a soul from darkness of ignorance to the glory of true knowledge and bliss. To acquire knowledge is a natural trail of all human beings. However these days the steam/ branches of education are so many and varied and to get admission therein is so competitive and difficult that the task of the young students and their parents have become difficult. Hence there is a definite need to have astrological/ psychological counseling for specific educational fields. There are number of astrological yogas, combinations, Arishtas (to be countered) as tools for astrologers; yet the astrologer have to invoke his knowledge and intuition to the maximum to be able to provide the correct and timely counsel. Hope the book will help one and all in pursuit of the same.

 

About The Author

The author is a mining engineer from “Indian School of Mines” now known as IIT Dhanbad. He has put in 28 years of service in the Army as an Engineers’ officer. He is a Jyotish Acharya from Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan. For a long time, ha has been pursuing astrological studies as a keen student. His researches reflect his analyses approach to go into the details as an engineer and then he put them across frankly as an Army officer.

 

Preface

The astrology is a difficult and different type of knowledge. It is neither a physical science as physics or Chemistry is; nor is meta- physical. The precision of mathematics should be harmoniously integrated with intuitive capability of an astrologer and the Divine grace of the Almighty. While delineating a chart, a good deal of all the three elements is essential. The goal of living is to discover the purpose of living. 'The Divine Grace' enables one to succeed and to explain all aspects of human life although tortuously like a space and time curve. The great scientist Einsteen has said, "Astrology is a science in itself and contains an illuminating body of knowledge. It taught me many things and I am greatly indebted to it. Astrology is like a life-giving elixir (nectar) to mankind."

The astrology is a science of tendencies. Trends in the life of an individual can be foreseen with great accuracy. With the help of it one can see although sketchily what one has to endure and what one can overcome instead of either frustrating attempts to change the destiny or setback into utter defeatism. One can make an intellectual assessment of various inputs provided by it regarding what future holds or likely to hold and take steps to handle adequately oncoming situations.

During the course of my rendering astro-consultancy to those who seek for it, I have realized that in most of the cases the queries or worries of people can be broadly grouped in following categories:

1. Education/ success in competition for various fields of education or what course or line of subject one should follow.

2. Marriage-its timing, traits of prospective spouse and marital happiness.

3. Children- timing, welfare and worthiness.

4. State of career and financial condition.

5. Health- of self or of the near and dear ones.

I have already put my views on health related matters in my book "Medical Astrology". I now intend to tackle other subjects one by one starting with "education and Astrology".

These days, the education is not moving in right direction. Human life is dedicated to worldly pleasures, which is a waste of life. The students should produce humane and virtuous products and involve in noble actions. They should possess spiritual strength in addition to worldly matters. Only when these two are integrated, the world would move along the right path. The matter is inert and the energy is power. Without the energy, the matter will have no strength. One should understand that the education is life and not merely the means of earning a living.

A right to education has been recognized by various governments. At the global level, Article 13 of the United Nations' 1966 International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights recognizes the right of everyone to education. Although education is compulsory in most places up to a certain age, attendance at school often isn't, and a minority of parents chooses home-schooling, e-Iearning or similar for their children. The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act or Right to Education Act (RTE), is an Indian legislation enacted by the Parliament of India on 4 August 2009, which describes the modalities of the importance of free and compulsory education for children between 6 and 14th year of age in India under Article 21(a) of the Indian Constitution. India became one of 135 countries to make education a fundamental right of every child when the act came into force on 1 April 2010.

Education as a science cannot be separated from the educational traditions that existed since ages. Adults trained the young of their society in the knowledge and skills they would need to master and eventually pass on. The evolution of culture, and human beings as a species depended on this practice of transmitting education. The education and the knowledge acquired through education are so closely inter-woven with the profession, that it is inevitable that one crosses into other without even realizing about it. This aspect can be seen at various places in the book.

The education is the most important part of our life. No one can deny this fact that without proper education, one cannot think of a better future for self, family and society. The education liberates one from darkness of ignorance and bestows the glory of true knowledge and bliss. Hence a need exists in modern times to guide young natives and their parents in the choice of their educational and professional patterns. The education is a big challenge for astrologers because these days there are innumerable number of choices or fields to attain academic/ technical excellence. The astrology plays a very important role to help in forecasting rational! intellectual attainment of an individual. The astrology helps one to know which educational field suits one the most or which educational career will benefit one the maximum with the least amount of obstruction.

The book has been covered in seven chapters one chapter each is devoted to formal introduction to education, relevant houses and signs, planets and Karakas relevant to it, various educational yogas, supplementary astrological tools, select specific branches of educational fields, Arishtas of education and their remedies. Each chapter is illustrated with charts and tables. In all 64 illustrative charts with their Navamsha and six tables have been used. In order to maintain brevity, I have used most of the charts more than once to illustrate different principles. The subject matter is very demanding and sought after. I have tried to make it look simpler and understandable.

In preparation of the present work, the author does not claim originality. In fact I have borrowed the ideas, principles and explanations given in many classics and works by some of the great astrologers. It is not possible to name all of them. However, I am indebted to the encouragement and blessings of Justice SN Kapoor, Shri AB Shukla and my teachers. It is now difficult to identify which ideas arose from where, but the final form has an identity of its own. I have not the least intention to offend any astrologer or the native of the illustrated charts. However, inadvertently, if it has occurred, I offer my unconditional apology. I realize my personal limitations and alone am responsible for any shortcomings, which may come to light.

I am thankful to Mr. Narinder Sagar for his suggestions and extra efforts to get it published on Priority. I am also thankful to my friend Mr. Krishna Kumar for valuable suggestions/ assistance at various stage of the work. Introduction

Education yields humility. Humility bestows ability. Ability or skill brings money. Money helps you to do religious deeds and your religious deeds bring lot of happiness to you.

1.1 Education means acquiring knowledge, information and skill through nature, parents and teachers. This is available in books, texts, scriptures and is taught through educational institutions, by words of mouth or on the job/ practical training. The knowledge, skill and information so acquired when applied in various fields of life is called wisdom; or the wisdom is application of acquired education at appropriate time, place and conditions to get desired results. A wise man may not be very literate, but possess sharp, intuitive mind and memory to grasp the situation/ problem and finds its solution through his logical reasoning, thinking and experience of life/ nature Therefore, the first and foremost thing in life is to gain knowledge. Education prepares child to face the world with courage and competence and helps him not only to solve his problems but also helps in eradicating impediments of his fellow-men. Thus it makes one a man of utility to the society. A man without education and wisdom is not much different from an animal. Therefore, this is the best gift which any parent can give to their children.

1• 2 The great philosopher, Pluto said, "Knowledge is a justified true belief". Knowledge or education is not a commodity which reduces on sharing or on expanding. It is an energy which grows by sharing or on bestowing on others. The knowledge is a wealth which no thief can steal and no rascal can snatch away. It may be dormant or stagnating; by sharing, it starts flowing; the more one spends, the more one gets. It is like drawing water from a well or hidden springs; the more one draws, more water starts filling the space. If no water is drawn, the water may become dirty or even poisonous. The education is the most important human activity in one’s life Human civilization has progressed by continuous innovations in education over ages, removing blanket of ignorance and spreading awareness in the society. It was born with the birth of human race and shall continue as long as the human race survives. It is the level of education that helps people earn respect, recognition, utility to the society and earn a better and more remunerative livelihood for an individual. It is a lifelong process of learning. The education is a controlling grace to the young, consolation to the old, wealth to the poor and ornament to the rich. "What sculpture is to a block of stone, education is to an individual" says Edison.

1.3 The aim of education can only be to bring out the best in a youngster, tapping his potential and curbing negative points in him. It must aim at creating a strong moral, physical and spiritual personality with devotion to the pursuit of knowledge. Education in its general sense is a form of learning in which the knowledge, skills, and habits of a group of people are transferred from one generation to the next through teaching, training, or research. It is the integration of reading, writing and development of free and positive thinking. An educated man will never find stranded in the midst of any difficulty. Knowledge is too far advanced today to gain in any field be it trade, industry, agriculture, medicine, engineering or administration etc. Education frequently takes place under the guidance of others, but may also be autodidactic. Any experience that has a formative effect on the way one thinks, feels, or acts may be considered educational. Education gives us mental, psychological and physical strength necessary to face any challenge with confidence and dignity.

Education Counseling

2.1 In America, Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Pacific, various terms or equivalent to educational counselor are used with a traditional emphasis on career development. Countries vary in how a school counseling program and school counseling program services are provided based on economics (funding for schools and school counseling programs), social capital (Private versus public schools), and School Counselor certification and credentialing movements in education departments, professional associations, and national and local legislation. In China, only 15% of high school students are admitted to college, so the entrance exams are fiercely competitive. Much pressure is put on children and adolescents to study and be able to attend college and this necessitates a central school counseling focus in China. An additional stressor is that there are not enough places for students to attend college, and over 1/3 of college graduates cannot find jobs, There is a stigma related to personal or emotional problems and even though most universities and many schools now have counselors, there is a reluctance by many students to seek counseling due to reasons such as anxiety, fear and depression.

2.2 In Vedic system, there are Shodas Samskaras(16 ceremonies) in one's life. One of the major Samskara is "Vidyarambha" (beginning of education). It is performed during Uttarayan in child's 5th ,7th or 9th month (avoiding Phalgun month) on a tithi 2, 3, 5, 6, la, 11 or 12th in Punurvasu, Chitra, Swat~ Anuradha, Jyestha, Shravan or Revati Nakshtra. During the ceremony, an elderly person puts Akshar Om's indestructible vibrations in child's ear and writes "Om" with honey on child's tongue to stir the child's potential and latent talents lying dormant inside the child. In Muhurat Kundali Jupiter, Mercury or Venus in DharamTrikone (1st, 5th and 9th) counteracts all possible evils in child journey of acquiring education.

2.3 Astrology can help one to assess the potential of a child and can give a reasonable idea of the field in which this potential has best chances to bloom. In addition, it gives a reasonable idea regarding the type and level of education an individual is likely to pursue and how much success can one attain in one's chosen field by delineating the horoscope. It also helps one to gauge one's intelligence quotient of the youngster. With national policy of reservations for under-privileged, there is a fierce competition for the limited vacancies available in good institutions by increasing larger number of well qualified young-men. Hence it is essential that all appropriate steps be taken well in advance to channelize the efforts of young students and get the best possible results without making undue demands on their intelligence and lead to wholesome development of the youngster. Counseling means a collaborative effort between a counselor and an individual where the counselor gives advice, opinion or direction based on what the individual has discussed with him utilizing methods, of which the counselor is an expert.

2.4 Education is mostly imparting/ receiving information to the client. During counseling, the astrologer does most of the talking to resolve specific issues in a dialogue mode. It is a combined result of astrologer's competence of his technical knowledge of the subject along with psychological and Divine intuition to nurture and guide the client or his ward in furtherance of the goal towards better educational/ career prospects through the planetary configuration in his chart and destiny pattern of his previous Karmas. The astrologer must integrate a number of reliable skills and technique to give the clients hope, assurance and empowering them to channelize their energies towards a field, area or direction, where they have much better chances to excel as per their taste, aptitude and destiny pattern.

2.5 Educational counseling is one of the important areas of predictive astrology as every parent and student, today, is anxious about better career prospects/ settlement in life. There has been a tremendous growth in number of disciplines in education, hitherto unknown. Most of the parents decide the area of specialization for his child to follow depending on their own knowledge, preference or social ego, which may be outdated. When the child takes admission, he finds that the discipline where he has been put, is not to his taste. The child's own aptitude, intelligence and limitations are not considered. This results in dissatisfaction and frustration throughout his life. At times it causes inferiority complex and escapism in the youngster. Therefore it is imperative that interest and aptitude should be main factor while deciding his field of activities.

Astrology & Education

3.1 The Vedic astrology is intimately personal and intensely practical. It reveals the vast stores of latent faculties inherent in every individual. It also indicates the basic impulses motivating one's activities and interests. It enables an astrologer to study the blueprint of a person' life and advice/warns him to the various impediments to his path of future unfoldment. Various astrological Sutras indicate the extent and goal of one's intelligence and the process by which distortions, if any in the path, may be eliminated or mitigated.

3.2 The wisdom of Vedic Astrology can illuminate the path for students who are aiming for academic excellence and educational success. Many parents have the charts of their children analyzed to give them clues for how best to support the children in their family. One should know about their children's chart for intelligence and learning, for strengths and impediments and how to get possible results with the help of asr9oloqical evaluation. In particular, the astrologers should examine the placement of Mercury, Jupiter and Moon as regards their influences on various houses.

1st House- The general success, vitality and position.

2nd House- Energies impacting this house are responsible for one's intelligence through his family and speech.

3rd House- Mental inclination, memory, perseverance, writings, interviews, hobbies, communication, mathematics and accounting.

4th House- Natural happiness and work efficiency in focusing on goals and school education.

5th House- In-born wisdom, creativity, college education and superior competitions.

9th House- Ability to sustain planned thinking and specialized higher education.

10th House-The career, success and attainment of position of authority.

3.3 In addition, the astrologers should take note of negative planetary influences that can bring obstacles to academic performance such as:

i) Laziness ii) Distraction or loss of focus/ inclination iii) Social addictions iv) Mental retardation/ disorders- Over 20% of world's children suffer from some or the other mental problem. v) Dietary Problems 3.4 The placement of natural benefics plays an important role in cognitive achievements in any field. When these planets are well placed influencing the houses of education, valedictorian and A + students are born. It is the duty of every individual to explore the student's struggles and potentials with the insight that astrology brings and watch them thrive in academics and career, once proper guidance and remedies are followed.

3.5 Late Dr. VB Raman said that Sun, Moon, the karakas (Mercury & Jupiter) and houses Pt, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 9th and 10th along with their lords should be strong and well placed to bless the native with good academics. Conjunction of two or more such planets with the lords of 5th and/ or 9th will give the native best possible education and after completing the education, he will be luckier to get a decent job and position in the society. Natural malefics indicate technical education while natural benefics denote non-technical or economic/ managerial/ bureaucratic fields. However if these lords make a conjunction with Rahu or Dustan houses, the combination gives very unfavourable results in attaining good or adequate education. If the Mahadasha lord during the effective period of education is afflicted, weak or ill-placed, similar unfavourable results will occur.

Formal Education

4.1 Education as a science cannot be separated from the educational traditions that existed before. Adults trained the young of their society in the knowledge and skills they would need to master and eventually pass on. The evolution of culture, and human beings as a species depended on this practice of transmitting knowledge. Systems of schooling involve institutionalized teaching and learning in relation to a curriculum, which itself is established according to a predetermined purpose of the schools in the system. Schools systems are sometimes also based on religions, giving them different curricula. In formal education, a curriculum is the set of courses and their content offered at a school or university.

As an idea, curriculum stems from the Latin word for race course, referring to the course of deeds and experiences through which children grow to become mature adults. A curriculum is prescriptive, and is based on a more general syllabus which merely specifies what topics must be understood and to what level to achieve a particular grade or standard. As per curriculum, there are two categories of school in India-those offering education under the state curriculum (framed by each state in which a school situated) and those that go by the Central syllabus (framed by an all India body). The latter is said to be more demanding on the young one's abilities and preferred by parents in general. The education is broadly divided as follows.

4.2 Pre-school Education: This is up to the age of 5, when children get the first taste of school education known as Nursery or Kindergarten. Preschool education is important because it can give a child the edge in a competitive world and education climate. The children who do not receive the fundamentals during their preschool years will be taught the same (alphabet, counting, shapes, colors and designs) when they begin their formal education and they will be behind the children who already possess that knowledge. This education is also important because this gives children a chance of getting into an environment of class-mates/ friends and of teachers in their formative years. Therefore the duties and responsibilities of parents and teachers increase manifolds. Teachers with special skills and training are needed at this time to nurture the children to develop their potentials.

4.3 Primary I Elementary Education: It consists of regular schooling for 5 to 10 years starting from 5th/6th year of age. Most countries and parents are committed to achieving compulsory/ universal enrolment of all children. In India, this is being followed under "sarva Siksha Abhiyan'’ with incentive to children of poor, backwards and minorities. In urban India, immediately after winter breaks, there is a great rush of harassed parents and children shuttling from school to school for admission forms, interviews (of parents and child both) and at times trying to mobilize funds for donations to more prestigious schools. The poor/ lower middle class parents have to contend with government or government aided schools.

4.4 Secondary Education: It is the most contemporary education system during adolescence normally up to 12th standard of education. The exact boundary between primary and secondary education also varies from country to country and even within them, but is generally around the seventh to the tenth year of schooling. Secondary education occurs mainly during the teenage years. It is characterized by transition from typically comprehensive primary education to the optional! selective education. In India, this education is based on curriculum frame-work under National Council of Education, Research and Training (NCERT).

4.5 Higher! Degree Education: It is non-compulsory post- secondary level education system leading to a certificate, diploma or a university degree. It normally involves a specific field of vocation/career. It includes lectures, research and social services activities. This part of education is fully or partly subsidized by state. University education includes teaching, research, and social services activities, and it includes the undergraduate level, the graduate or post- graduate level. Universities are generally composed of several colleges. A liberal arts institution can be defined as a college or university curriculum aimed at imparting broad general knowledge and developing general intellectual capacities, in contrast to a professional, vocational, or technical curriculum. Higher education is therefore very important to national economies, both as a significant industry in its own right, and as a source of trained and educated personnel for the rest of the economy.

4.6 Specialized Education: It is post-degree education along with research work to enable one to become an expert of a specified field. It may be state-funded or independent or self-paid. It may include vocational education, which may be taken up any time in life and is focused on direct, practical or on job training.

In the past, those who were disabled were often not eligible for public education. Children with disabilities were often educated by physicians or special tutors. These early physicians set the foundation for special education today. They focused on individualized instruction and functional skills. Special education was only provided to people with severe disabilities in its early years, but more recently it has been opened to anyone who has experienced difficulty learning.

4.7 Vocational Education: Vocational education is a form of education focused on direct and practical training for a specific trade or craft. Vocational education may come in the form of an apprenticeship or internship as well as institutions teaching courses such as carpentry, mechanics, electricians, agriculture, engineering, medicine, architecture, music and the fine arts.

4.8 Open education and e-Iearning Higher education, in particular, is undergoing a transition towards open education/ e-Iearning alone is currently growing at 14 times the rate of traditional learning. Open education is fast growing to become the dominant form of education, for many reasons such as its efficiency and results compared to traditional methods. Cost of education has been an issue throughout history, and a major political issue in most countries today. Open education is generally significantly cheaper than traditional campus based learning and in many cases even free. Many large university institutions are now starting to offer free or almost free full courses such as Harvard, MIT and Berkeley teaming up to form edX It has been called the biggest change in the way we learn since the advent of printing press. Many people despite favorable studies on effectiveness may still desire to choose traditional campus education for social and cultural reasons.

4.9 Miscellaneous: In addition to above other forms of education may be termed as informal, alternative, indigenous, self- directing learning, open education and e-Iearning. The goal of the various forms of education is development of an individual in a specific field with some innovative methods. In the process various learning modules like vocal, visual, auditory, kinesthetic (learning based on movement), musical, inter-personal or intra-personal ones.

I have already put my views on health related matters in my book "Medical Astrology". I now intend to tackle other subjects one by one starting with "education and Astrology".

These days, the education is not moving in right direction. Human life is dedicated to worldly pleasures, which is a waste of life. The students should produce humane and virtuous products and involve in noble actions. They should possess spiritual strength in addition to worldly matters. Only when these two are integrated, the world would move along the right path. The matter is inert and the energy is power. Without the energy, the matter will have no strength. One should understand that the education is life and not merely the means of earning a living.

A right to education has been recognized by various governments. At the global level, Article 13 of the United Nations' 1966 International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights recognizes the right of everyone to education. Although education is compulsory in most places up to a certain age, attendance at school often isn't, and a minority of parents chooses home-schooling, e-Iearning or similar for their children. The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act or Right to Education Act (RTE), is an Indian legislation enacted by the Parliament of India on 4 August 2009, which describes the modalities of the importance of free and compulsory education for children between 6 and 14th year of age in India under Article 21(a) of the Indian Constitution. India became one of 135 countries to make education a fundamental right of every child when the act came into force on 1 April 2010.

Education as a science cannot be separated from the educational traditions that existed since ages. Adults trained the young of their society in the knowledge and skills they would need to master and eventually pass on. The evolution of culture, and human beings as a species depended on this practice of transmitting education. The education and the knowledge acquired through education are so closely inter-woven with the profession, that it is inevitable that one crosses into other without even realizing about it. This aspect can be seen at various places in the book.

The education is the most important part of our life. No one can deny this fact that without proper education, one cannot think of a better future for self, family and society. The education liberates one from darkness of ignorance and bestows the glory of true knowledge and bliss. Hence a need exists in modern times to guide young natives and their parents in the choice of their educational and professional patterns. The education is a big challenge for astrologers because these days there are innumerable number of choices or fields to attain academic/ technical excellence. The astrology plays a very important role to help in forecasting rational! intellectual attainment of an individual. The astrology helps one to know which educational field suits one the most or which educational career will benefit one the maximum with the least amount of obstruction.

The book has been covered in seven chapters one chapter each is devoted to formal introduction to education, relevant houses and signs, planets and Karakas relevant to it, various educational yogas, supplementary astrological tools, select specific branches of educational fields, Arishtas of education and their remedies. Each chapter is illustrated with charts and tables. In all 64 illustrative charts with their Navamsha and six tables have been used. In order to maintain brevity, I have used most of the charts more than once to illustrate different principles. The subject matter is very demanding and sought after. I have tried to make it look simpler and understandable.

In preparation of the present work, the author does not claim originality. In fact I have borrowed the ideas, principles and explanations given in many classics and works by some of the great astrologers. It is not possible to name all of them. However, I am indebted to the encouragement and blessings of Justice SN Kapoor, Shri AB Shukla and my teachers. It is now difficult to identify which ideas arose from where, but the final form has an identity of its own. I have not the least intention to offend any astrologer or the native of the illustrated charts. However, inadvertently, if it has occurred, I offer my unconditional apology. I realize my personal limitations and alone am responsible for any shortcomings, which may come to light.

I am thankful to Mr. Narinder Sagar for his suggestions and extra efforts to get it published on Priority. I am also thankful to my friend Mr. Krishna Kumar for valuable suggestions/ assistance at various stage of the work. I can never forget the contribution and inspiration of my ever enthusiastic granddaughters- Monil & Ishita Singhal, who have encouraged and helped me in computer/ internet related works for my astrological pursuits. I do hope this effort would be of interest and use to all those who find the subject engrossing. Introduction

Education yields humility. Humility bestows ability. Ability or skill brings money. Money helps you to do religious deeds and your religious deeds bring lot of happiness to you.

" General

1.1 Education means acquiring knowledge, information and skill through nature, parents and teachers. This is available in books, texts, scriptures and is taught through educational institutions, by words of mouth or on the job/ practical training. The knowledge, skill and information so acquired when applied in various fields of life is called wisdom; or the wisdom is application of acquired education at appropriate time, place and conditions to get desired results. A wise man may not be very literate, but possess sharp, intuitive mind and memory to grasp the situation/ problem and finds its solution through his logical reasoning, thinking and experience of life/ nature Therefore, the first and foremost thing in life is to gain knowledge. Education prepares child to face the world with courage and competence and helps him not only to solve his problems but also helps in eradicating impediments of his fellow-men. Thus it makes one a man of utility to the society. A man without education and wisdom is not much different from an animal. Therefore, this is the best gift which any parent can give to their children.

1• 2 The great philosopher, Pluto said, "Knowledge is a justified true belief". Knowledge or education is not a commodity which reduces on sharing or on expanding. It is an energy which grows by sharing or on bestowing on others. The knowledge is a wealth which no thief can steal and no rascal can snatch away. It may be dormant or stagnating; by sharing, it starts flowing; the more one spends, the more one gets. It is like drawing water from a well or hidden springs; the more one draws, more water starts filling the space. If no water is drawn, the water may become dirty or even poisonous. The education is the most important human activity in one’s life Human civilization has progressed by continuous innovations in education over ages, removing blanket of ignorance and spreading awareness in the society. It was born with the birth of human race and shall continue as long as the human race survives. It is the level of education that helps people earn respect, recognition, utility to the society and earn a better and more remunerative livelihood for an individual. It is a lifelong process of learning. The education is a controlling grace to the young, consolation to the old, wealth to the poor and ornament to the rich. "What sculpture is to a block of stone, education is to an individual" says Edison.

1.3 The aim of education can only be to bring out the best in a youngster, tapping his potential and curbing negative points in him. It must aim at creating a strong moral, physical and spiritual personality with devotion to the pursuit of knowledge. Education in its general sense is a form of learning in which the knowledge, skills, and habits of a group of people are transferred from one generation to the next through teaching, training, or research. It is the integration of reading, writing and development of free and positive thinking. An educated man will never find stranded in the midst of any difficulty. Knowledge is too far advanced today to gain in any field be it trade, industry, agriculture, medicine, engineering or administration etc. Education frequently takes place under the guidance of others, but may also be autodidactic. Any experience that has a formative effect on the way one thinks, feels, or acts may be considered educational. Education gives us mental, psychological and physical strength necessary to face any challenge with confidence and dignity.

Education Counseling

2.1 In America, Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Pacific, various terms or equivalent to educational counselor are used with a traditional emphasis on career development. Countries vary in how a school counseling program and school counseling program services are provided based on economics (funding for schools and school counseling programs), social capital (Private versus public schools), and School Counselor certification and credentialing movements in education departments, professional associations, and national and local legislation. In China, only 15% of high school students are admitted to college, so the entrance exams are fiercely competitive. Much pressure is put on children and adolescents to study and be able to attend college and this necessitates a central school counseling focus in China. An additional stressor is that there are not enough places for students to attend college, and over 1/3 of college graduates cannot find jobs, There is a stigma related to personal or emotional problems and even though most universities and many schools now have counselors, there is a reluctance by many students to seek counseling due to reasons such as anxiety, fear and depression.

2.2 In Vedic system, there are Shodas Samskaras(16 ceremonies) in one's life. One of the major Samskara is "Vidyarambha" (beginning of education). It is performed during Uttarayan in child's 5th ,7th or 9th month (avoiding Phalgun month) on a tithi 2, 3, 5, 6, la, 11 or 12th in Punurvasu, Chitra, Swat~ Anuradha, Jyestha, Shravan or Revati Nakshtra. During the ceremony, an elderly person puts Akshar Om's indestructible vibrations in child's ear and writes "Om" with honey on child's tongue to stir the child's potential and latent talents lying dormant inside the child. In Muhurat Kundali Jupiter, Mercury or Venus in DharamTrikone (1st, 5th and 9th) counteracts all possible evils in child journey of acquiring education.

2.3 Astrology can help one to assess the potential of a child and can give a reasonable idea of the field in which this potential has best chances to bloom. In addition, it gives a reasonable idea regarding the type and level of education an individual is likely to pursue and how much success can one attain in one's chosen field by delineating the horoscope. It also helps one to gauge one's intelligence quotient of the youngster. With national policy of reservations for under-privileged, there is a fierce competition for the limited vacancies available in good institutions by increasing larger number of well qualified young-men. Hence it is essential that all appropriate steps be taken well in advance to channelize the efforts of young students and get the best possible results without making undue demands on their intelligence and lead to wholesome development of the youngster. Counseling means a collaborative effort between a counselor and an individual where the counselor gives advice, opinion or direction based on what the individual has discussed with him utilizing methods, of which the counselor is an expert.

2.4 Education is mostly imparting/ receiving information to the client. During counseling, the astrologer does most of the talking to resolve specific issues in a dialogue mode. It is a combined result of astrologer's competence of his technical knowledge of the subject along with psychological and Divine intuition to nurture and guide the client or his ward in furtherance of the goal towards better educational/ career prospects through the planetary configuration in his chart and destiny pattern of his previous Karmas. The astrologer must integrate a number of reliable skills and technique to give the clients hope, assurance and empowering them to channelize their energies towards a field, area or direction, where they have much better chances to excel as per their taste, aptitude and destiny pattern.

2.5 Educational counseling is one of the important areas of predictive astrology as every parent and student, today, is anxious about better career prospects/ settlement in life. There has been a tremendous growth in number of disciplines in education, hitherto unknown. Most of the parents decide the area of specialization for his child to follow depending on their own knowledge, preference or social ego, which may be outdated. When the child takes admission, he finds that the discipline where he has been put, is not to his taste. The child's own aptitude, intelligence and limitations are not considered. This results in dissatisfaction and frustration throughout his life. At times it causes inferiority complex and escapism in the youngster. Therefore it is imperative that interest and aptitude should be main factor while deciding his field of activities.

Astrology & Education

3.1 The Vedic astrology is intimately personal and intensely practical. It reveals the vast stores of latent faculties inherent in every individual. It also indicates the basic impulses motivating one's activities and interests. It enables an astrologer to study the blueprint of a person' life and advice/warns him to the various impediments to his path of future unfoldment. Various astrological Sutras indicate the extent and goal of one's intelligence and the process by which distortions, if any in the path, may be eliminated or mitigated.

3.2 The wisdom of Vedic Astrology can illuminate the path for students who are aiming for academic excellence and educational success. Many parents have the charts of their children analyzed to give them clues for how best to support the children in their family. One should know about their children's chart for intelligence and learning, for strengths and impediments and how to get possible results with the help of asr9oloqical evaluation. In particular, the astrologers should examine the placement of Mercury, Jupiter and Moon as regards their influences on various houses.

1st House- The general success, vitality and position.

2nd House- Energies impacting this house are responsible for one's intelligence through his family and speech.

3rd House- Mental inclination, memory, perseverance, writings, interviews, hobbies, communication, mathematics and accounting.

4th House- Natural happiness and work efficiency in focusing on goals and school education.

5th House- In-born wisdom, creativity, college education and superior competitions.

9th House- Ability to sustain planned thinking and specialized higher education.

10th House-The career, success and attainment of position of authority.

3.3 In addition, the astrologers should take note of negative planetary influences that can bring obstacles to academic performance such as:

i) Laziness ii) Distraction or loss of focus/ inclination iii) Social addictions iv) Mental retardation/ disorders- Over 20% of world's children suffer from some or the other mental problem. v) Dietary Problems 3.4 The placement of natural benefics plays an important role in cognitive achievements in any field. When these planets are well placed influencing the houses of education, valedictorian and A + students are born. It is the duty of every individual to explore the student's struggles and potentials with the insight that astrology brings and watch them thrive in academics and career, once proper guidance and remedies are followed.

3.5 Late Dr. VB Raman said that Sun, Moon, the karakas (Mercury & Jupiter) and houses Pt, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 9th and 10th along with their lords should be strong and well placed to bless the native with good academics. Conjunction of two or more such planets with the lords of 5th and/ or 9th will give the native best possible education and after completing the education, he will be luckier to get a decent job and position in the society. Natural malefics indicate technical education while natural benefics denote non-technical or economic/ managerial/ bureaucratic fields. However if these lords make a conjunction with Rahu or Dustan houses, the combination gives very unfavourable results in attaining good or adequate education. If the Mahadasha lord during the effective period of education is afflicted, weak or ill-placed, similar unfavourable results will occur.

Formal Education

4.1 Education as a science cannot be separated from the educational traditions that existed before. Adults trained the young of their society in the knowledge and skills they would need to master and eventually pass on. The evolution of culture, and human beings as a species depended on this practice of transmitting knowledge. Systems of schooling involve institutionalized teaching and learning in relation to a curriculum, which itself is established according to a predetermined purpose of the schools in the system. Schools systems are sometimes also based on religions, giving them different curricula. In formal education, a curriculum is the set of courses and their content offered at a school or university.

As an idea, curriculum stems from the Latin word for race course, referring to the course of deeds and experiences through which children grow to become mature adults. A curriculum is prescriptive, and is based on a more general syllabus which merely specifies what topics must be understood and to what level to achieve a particular grade or standard. As per curriculum, there are two categories of school in India-those offering education under the state curriculum (framed by each state in which a school situated) and those that go by the Central syllabus (framed by an all India body). The latter is said to be more demanding on the young one's abilities and preferred by parents in general. The education is broadly divided as follows.

4.2 Pre-school Education: This is up to the age of 5, when children get the first taste of school education known as Nursery or Kindergarten. Preschool education is important because it can give a child the edge in a competitive world and education climate. The children who do not receive the fundamentals during their preschool years will be taught the same (alphabet, counting, shapes, colors and designs) when they begin their formal education and they will be behind the children who already possess that knowledge. This education is also important because this gives children a chance of getting into an environment of class-mates/ friends and of teachers in their formative years. Therefore the duties and responsibilities of parents and teachers increase manifolds. Teachers with special skills and training are needed at this time to nurture the children to develop their potentials.

4.3 Primary I Elementary Education: It consists of regular schooling for 5 to 10 years starting from 5th/6th year of age. Most countries and parents are committed to achieving compulsory/ universal enrolment of all children. In India, this is being followed under "sarva Siksha Abhiyan'’ with incentive to children of poor, backwards and minorities. In urban India, immediately after winter breaks, there is a great rush of harassed parents and children shuttling from school to school for admission forms, interviews (of parents and child both) and at times trying to mobilize funds for donations to more prestigious schools. The poor/ lower middle class parents have to contend with government or government aided schools.

4.4 Secondary Education: It is the most contemporary education system during adolescence normally up to 12th standard of education. The exact boundary between primary and secondary education also varies from country to country and even within them, but is generally around the seventh to the tenth year of schooling. Secondary education occurs mainly during the teenage years. It is characterized by transition from typically comprehensive primary education to the optional! selective education. In India, this education is based on curriculum frame-work under National Council of Education, Research and Training (NCERT).

4.5 Higher! Degree Education: It is non-compulsory post- secondary level education system leading to a certificate, diploma or a university degree. It normally involves a specific field of vocation/career. It includes lectures, research and social services activities. This part of education is fully or partly subsidized by state. University education includes teaching, research, and social services activities, and it includes the undergraduate level, the graduate or post- graduate level. Universities are generally composed of several colleges. A liberal arts institution can be defined as a college or university curriculum aimed at imparting broad general knowledge and developing general intellectual capacities, in contrast to a professional, vocational, or technical curriculum. Higher education is therefore very important to national economies, both as a significant industry in its own right, and as a source of trained and educated personnel for the rest of the economy.

4.6 Specialized Education: It is post-degree education along with research work to enable one to become an expert of a specified field. It may be state-funded or independent or self-paid. It may include vocational education, which may be taken up any time in life and is focused on direct, practical or on job training.

In the past, those who were disabled were often not eligible for public education. Children with disabilities were often educated by physicians or special tutors. These early physicians set the foundation for special education today. They focused on individualized instruction and functional skills. Special education was only provided to people with severe disabilities in its early years, but more recently it has been opened to anyone who has experienced difficulty learning.

4.7 Vocational Education: Vocational education is a form of education focused on direct and practical training for a specific trade or craft. Vocational education may come in the form of an apprenticeship or internship as well as institutions teaching courses such as carpentry, mechanics, electricians, agriculture, engineering, medicine, architecture, music and the fine arts.

4.8 Open education and e-Iearning Higher education, in particular, is undergoing a transition towards open education/ e-Iearning alone is currently growing at 14 times the rate of traditional learning. Open education is fast growing to become the dominant form of education, for many reasons such as its efficiency and results compared to traditional methods. Cost of education has been an issue throughout history, and a major political issue in most countries today. Open education is generally significantly cheaper than traditional campus based learning and in many cases even free. Many large university institutions are now starting to offer free or almost free full courses such as Harvard, MIT and Berkeley teaming up to form edX It has been called the biggest change in the way we learn since the advent of printing press. Many people despite favorable studies on effectiveness may still desire to choose traditional campus education for social and cultural reasons.

4.9 Miscellaneous: In addition to above other forms of education may be termed as informal, alternative, indigenous, self- directing learning, open education and e-Iearning. The goal of the various forms of education is development of an individual in a specific field with some innovative methods. In the process various learning modules like vocal, visual, auditory, kinesthetic (learning based on movement), musical, inter-personal or intra-personal ones.
