Experience Jaipur in 101 Ways
Experience Jaipur in 101 Ways
Description
Editor’s Note

If you wish to experience India, a trip to the Golden Tangles is a must. It covers the three historical cities of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. Of these, Jipur may well be called the soul of India for it epitomizes royalty, without whom we just can’t imagine the country.

The Kachwahas of jaipur were a forward-looking dynasty. If Amber, their earlier capital, is more of a throwback to the era of medieval castles, the Pink City takes pride in being the first planned city of India. Eogether, they give the visitor a curious feel of the blend of the ancient end the modern.

Times Group Books brings to you the city guide to Jaipur to equip: c’u with sufficient information when you visit the city. We have picked 101 ways. - - the number appears as magical as the city itself!— that you can experience the city in. In the Experience Jaipur section, we have described majestic monuments that awe the visitor with their grandeur. Next, there are walks that acquaint you with a city buzzing with activities. For those inclined to explore the tender side of the city, there are gardens to feast your eyes upon.

The historical city quite aptly showcases a few museums that n1ighten you with the city’s past and present culture. Next, we take vice through cultural activities at various centers. The predominantly -Hindu city also has its fair share of temples that need to be visited. Besides, there is a need to experience the din of the bustling bazaars as much as the quiet of the heritage mansions. We introduce you to the art and craft of jaipur and its culinary exclusives. Finally, we ET to have a peek at places around Jaipur that are worth visiting if me permit.

The next section gives you the details ct hotels, restaurants and bars SD that you can enjoy yourselves fully. It is also important for the visitor to take back tangible memories from the city. So, you get to nave a glance at the famous shops selling clothes and apparel, home furnishings and handicraft, and jewellery. Stepping into the shoes of metros, Jaipur is also developing a mall culture. Even the residents of jaipur would find it useful to get acquainted with the places to shop and eat.

We have also mentioned a few useful itineraries so that you can explore other regions of Rajasthan if you can spare a few more days. Apart from the one-day tour of jaipur, we have proposed modules of three, seven and ten days for those with an itch to travel.

The book ends with a section that provides useful information on the various facilities in Jaipur. The handy companion introduces you to both how to travel to the city and within it. It tells you about banks, foreign exchange centers and reputed hospitals. it offers foreigners an insight into what is expected of them and how they can have a smooth sojourn. it guides you to the various types of accommodation different price ranges.

There were suggestions from various quarters to give the book a shape different from the run-of-the-mill ones. At the same time it was also important to retain the comprehensive details that good guides offer. The book had to appear attractive as well as be useful. Through all this, the spirit of the city had to be kept alive. In brief, ours is an attempt to decode the astronomer’s city. This book is a sort of Jantar Mantar, an observatory that familiarizes you not with the skies but with the city of Jaipur.

What you have in your hands is a result of team work. The book has come into being with inputs from the trio of authors — Narendra Rathode, Namita S Kalla and Amit Dagar. Their inputs were given a reader-friendly shape by Team TGB, which has spent hundreds of hours to make it better and then again still better. We express our heart-felt thanks to Dinesh Shukla and Satish Jaiswal for the photographs that add to the beauty of the book, we are also indebted to Himika Chaudhury, Editor, Jaipur limes, for her constant help.
