Description
About the Book

In Go Back to Paris, the eminent Tamil writer, Jayakanthan captures with sensitivity the conflict between tradition and modernity in two realms- art and personal life.

Musician Sarangan returns to India with an idealistic fervour to modernise Carnatic music. He encounters a hard rock in Seshiah, his patriarch father, a veena virtuoso for whom music is divine.

Lalitha, a creative writer, is torn between her passionate love for Sarangan and her devout attachment to her noble husband. It is no conflict between dharma and adharma, but a conflict between one dharma and another. An uneasy equilibrium results.

Born in 1934, Jayakanthan has to his credit about forty novels, nearly two hundred short stories and fifteen collection of essays besides some translations. Some of his important works include Oru Nadigai Natakam Parkiral, Andha Akkavaithedi & Veetukkulle Pennai (Novels), Chakkaram Nirpadillai, etc. An important figure in Tamil literature his novel Sila Nerangalil Sila Manithargal won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1972.

K S Subramanian (1937) has translated a number of works from Tamil to English: 11 novels, 7 novellas, a collection of short stories, 3 collections of essays and 3 volumes of Tamil New poetry. Five volumes of his articles and papers have been published in Tamil. He was former member of the Tamil Advisory Board of Sahitya Akademi.

The best and fastest service worldwide - I am in Australia and I put in a big order of books (14 items) on a Wednesday; it was sent on Friday and arrived at my doorstep early on Monday morning - amazing! All very securely packed in a very strong cardboard box. I have bought several times from Exotic India and the service is always exceptionally good. THANK YOU and NAMASTE!

I wanted to let you know how happy we are with our framed pieces of Shree Durga and Shree Kali. Thank you and thank your framers for us. By the way, this month we offered a Puja and Yagna to the Ardhanarishwara murti we purchased from you last November. The Brahmin priest, Shree Vivek Godbol, who was visiting LA preformed the rites. He really loved our murti and thought it very paka. I am so happy to have found your site , it is very paka and trustworthy. Plus such great packing and quick shipping. Thanks for your service Vipin, it is a pleasure.
