Madhya Pradesh (Unhurried, Unspoilt, Undiscovered)
Madhya Pradesh (Unhurried, Unspoilt, Undiscovered)
Description

From the Jacket

Madhya Pradesh Unhurried Unspoilt, Undiscovered describes exactly what makes the state special.

Unlike other states the mention of Madhya Pradesh does not evoke a single image this is because the immensity and astonishing variety of its attractions do not permit its confinement to a stereotype.

This is not a guide book it is an attempt to introduce readers to the essence and flavors of destinations in Madhya Pradesh which include majestic monuments the finest forests and wildlife sanctuaries of the country and Unspoilt retreats.

It is hoped that readers would be tempted not only to visit the areas but explore and find out more about the people and this unique state which so richly deserves its epithet of being the heart of India in more ways than one.

About the Author

Probir Sen Studied history at St, Stephen’s College Delhi and kings College Cambridge. He joined the Indian administrative service in 1967 in the Madhya Pradesh cadre and his career took him to areas as disparate as archaeology and aviation (as chairman and Managing Director Indian Airlines).

After retirement Probir Sen served as director India International Centre New Delhi. His background of having studied history and his work in Madhya Pradesh where he served for half his career developed in him the love for and knowledge of the many fascinating attraction of the state. He has written articles on issues relating to aviation tourism and governance for national newspapers and magazines.

Preface

Why it may well be asked should there be yet another volume on places of tourist attractions in Madhya Pradesh when in fact a number of excellent guide books on these places exist published but he Archaeological survey of India and the M.P. State tourism development corporation.

The only explanation I can offer for this attempt is that it is not a guide book. These essays are intended to provide an introduction to the places covered something that will hopefully persuade tourists to visit stay and imbibe more about these places by reading and interacting with the people living there.

Unlike many other states in India Madhya Pradesh does not evoke one single image. This is partly because it does not possess typical attractions such as the mountains or the sea and partly because its immensity and the astonishing variety of what it does have to offer do not permit its confinement to a stereotype.

Our Nandi sculpture arrived today and it surpasses all expectations - it is wonderful. We are not only pleasantly surprised by the speed of international delivery but also are extremely grateful for the care of your packaging. Our sculpture needed to travel to an off-lying island of New Zealand but it arrived safely because of how well it had been packaged. Based upon my experience of all aspects of your service, I have no hesitation in recommending Exotic India.
