Description
About the Book

Mental tension is a major problem of the times we live in. Latest studies indicated that large percentage of the urban population suffers from one or the other form of stress and tension related syndromes. And it serves on useful purpose except making the individual less efficient, less productive and more quarrelsome. Any prolonged stress or tension can lead to many undesirable consequences – fatigue, irritability, exhaustion, insomnia, ulcers, high blood pressure, and heart disease, amongst others.

How to avoid stress and overcome tension is the underlying theme of this book. Based on the latest scientific and medical research, the author discusses the body’s response to tension, and how to prevent and lessen stress situations in our day-on-day living. The prevention and treatment guidelines suggested are the cumulative result of global research and author’s professional expertise spanning over thirty years.

‘…gives very simple and practical methods of meeting life situations that are stress producers adequately.

About the Author

Prof. Dr O.P. Jaggi is a medical scientist of international standing. He is the former Dean of the faculty of Medical Science, University of Delhi, and Directly of V. Patel Chest Institute, Delhi.

He firmly believes in the concept of preventive medicine and, therefore, in explaining medical facts. He has writing and spoken extensively on healthy and medicine, both in India and aboard. His books on healthcare including Asthma & Allergies: Causes, Prevention and Treatment; Asthma in Children; Healing Systems and You Can Prevent Heart Attack have been immensely popular. His deep commitment to patient care has won him wide recognition.

He can be contacted at Asthma, chest and Allergy Center, 128, Vasant Enclave, new Delhi-1100057.

Preface

Stress and tension is an uncalled for response of the body. It serves no useful purpose of the individual who is under stress; on the other hand, it makes him less efficient, less effective and more quarrelsome.

If the tension is prolonged, it can cause many diseases: high blood pressure, susceptibility to heart attack and stomach ulcers.

How to avoid mental tension in our surroundings which easily generate sparks and conflagrations, is the need not only of you and me, but of the whole society-this book describes the results of the latest scientific researches on stress and tension: what precisely it is how the human body fights it; what diseases occur when the body succumbs to it; different stress situations in our day-to-day living, and most importantly, how to avoid stress and how to lessen it.

This last aspect of mental tension has been discussed in great detail so that every one can pick and choose the methods most suitable to his temperament.

It is hopped that this revised and enlarged edition of the book will prove more useful. It also incorporates answer to innumerable queries that I received since the publication of the first edition.

Our Nandi sculpture arrived today and it surpasses all expectations - it is wonderful. We are not only pleasantly surprised by the speed of international delivery but also are extremely grateful for the care of your packaging. Our sculpture needed to travel to an off-lying island of New Zealand but it arrived safely because of how well it had been packaged. Based upon my experience of all aspects of your service, I have no hesitation in recommending Exotic India.
