Mimamsa-Paribhasa of Krsna (Krishna) Yajvan (Sanskrit Text with an English Translation and an elaborate Introduction)
Mimamsa-Paribhasa of Krsna (Krishna) Yajvan (Sanskrit Text with an English Translation and an elaborate Introduction)
Description
From the Jacket :

The book, Mimamsa-Paribhasa, edited by my humble self, throws new light on a neglected branch of Indian philosophy. Krsna Yajvan's work is a standard text on the Purva Mimamsa system and it covers all the terminologies connected with the science of rituals. The present work critically edited for the first time with an exhaustive Introduction and English Translation will cater to the needs of innumerable readers in the East and the West. It will fill up the gap in the Purva Mimamsa system of philosophy which still suffers from a dearth of annotated elementary texts in the field of sacrificial ceremonial. It will go a long way in unraveling the intricacies of ritualistic science following in the footsteps of the reputed author.

About the Author :

Dr. Bhabani Prasad Bhattacharya was born in 1940 in a distinguished family of scholars hailing from Krishnanagar in Nadia district of West Bengal. He, presently a Professor in the Department of Sanskrit, J.U. is a brilliant product of the University of Calcutta. He stood first in First Class in Sanskrit Honours in the B.A. Examination and also secured the first place in First Class in M.A. Examination in Sanskrit. He was awarded the Ph.D. degree by the Jadavpur University for his work entitled 'Studies in the Srautasutras of Asvalayana and Apastamba'. A Vedic scholar of international repute he has been serving the Jadavpur University in different capacities as a teacher and has carved out a niche for himself in the field of Oriental Studies and research. A good number of students had already been admitted to the Ph.D. degree under his supervision and at present many students are carrying on research work under his able guidance. He had the reare privilege of studying at the lotus feet of Late Pandit P.N. Pattabhirama Sastri, the doyen of Vedic Studies and Mimamsa philosophy and under whose affectionate care he was initiated into the diverse branches of Sanskritic learning. He had attended numerous Conferences and Seminars at home and abroad. His publications cover a wide range of subjects like Grammar, Linguistics and Science of rituals. He is a regular contributor of learned papers of different academic journals.
