Book Description
Preface

This is not a summary of a great volume of Muslim theology and practice, but a humble effort for a limited purpose. In the prevailing conditions in many non-Arab countries there are very few facilities for learning Arabic which is the language of the Muslim formal prayer. To the young people (Muslims), religious instruction at home is not also adequately available. There are different regional languages in different countries. English, however, is the most prevalent language in the world. For that reason this little volume is brought out for the benefit of those (men and women, boys and girls) who have a fair knowledge of English A Telugu version has also been brought out for the benefit of those living in my state in India (Andhra Pradesh) where the main language is Telugu. By the grace of God both versions have found general acceptance and copies of the English version are now in circulation in several countries. Many have started doing the Namaz (prayer).

I am not aware of any other handy little volume, in English or in any regional language, which describes the five important aspects of Islam in a brief and clear manner.

I wish to make clear to my readers that what I have written in Chapters I and II has the full authority of the Quran. Namaz, as I have described in Chapter III, is according to the practice of the Prophet under divine guidance and of his companions. Chapters IV and V are strictly according to history. And finally Chapter VI is entirely based on the teachings of the Quran.

In the Chapter on Namaz I have omitted some nonessential recitations to make this most holy duty clear and simple. Nothing important has been left out. This humble work is dedicated to the service of God and His Prophet.

In the end, I am deeply grateful to my esteemed friends, Mr. V. Abdulla and Mr. Syed Ishaque for their great trouble is seeing the whole work through the press.
