Description

Back of the book

Aghoreshwaar Bhagwan Ramji, a renowned Aghor saint of India, lived his life in service to all, and has left behind him a simple path to achieve what he himself accomplished in his life time. Baba, as he was known and addressed to by most of his devotees and disciples, has a life story that is inspiring to spiritual seekers and laymen alike. After attaining enlightenment at a very young age Baba established an organization for social services, Sri Sarveshwari Samooh, with its headquarters in Benares, The Samooh first opened a hospital for leprosy patients and then went on jto work to eradicate the dowry system, simplify extravagant social ceremonies, like marriage etc. and work for education of the poor. Today there are many Ashrams and centers in India and abroad engaged in continuing the ideals and teachings of the Aghoreshwar. The author, Aughar Harihar Ram is one of his monks and resides in Sri Sarveshwari Samooh Ashram in Sonoma, California, USA.

Preface

Tracing the path of a sage is like marking the course of a bird on the wing. Usually a sage does not tell much of his life to others, revealing only hints, and even then in a veiled language. Because he leaves no detailed map of his life's journey, and traces that come to light by some good fortune are lovingly remembered and carefully preserved. Sometimes his sayings, teachings or stories are shared and passed along.

A true sage is the bestower of happiness, peace and prosperity to all who come in contact with him. Above all, he is the source of serenity, liberating people form the heat of thir disorderly lives. Countless people who came in contact with Aghoreshwar Bhagwan Ramji and the experience of being with a true sage. Those who knew him saw him as a saint without the least touch of worldliness, a living incarnation of matchless purity, clarity, and compassion.

Although many details may not be available to present as Baba's life story, the ones that are known reveal more about the life of an Aghoreshwar than has ever been revealed before. The Aghoreshwar is one who has obtained the highest state of Aghor. Though the ways of Aghor remained a mystery from earliest times, Aghoreshwar Bhagwan Ramji told his disciples that the time had come to share the teachings with others. For that reason more information about his life has been given to us than would have been given in the past..

As for the sayings that the traditionally left to us by a sage, the second part of this book contains discourses that Aghoreshwar Bhagwan Ramji gave in various locations, mostly in the main Ashram in Varanasi, Sri Sarveshwari Samooh. Musch of his teaching is revealed in these talks.

"Questions and Answers" at the end of the book give further insight into his teachings. One should bear in mind that each answer was directed at a particular person, and would not necessarily be the correct answer for someone else. In this part of the book there are also some short, cryptic expressions of his wisdom that were recorded at various times.

This is an intimate portrait of the Aghorewshwar Bhagwan Ramji who was with us until 1992. All mankind takes heart when such a sage appears. Although unable to keep pace with him, all feel uplifted in his presence and have a foretaste of that bliss which makes worldly pleasures seem trifling. It is not often that a spiritual being of the magnitude of Aghoreshwar Sri Bhagwan Ram visits this earth, and when such an event occurs, a new era of hope opens before it.
