The Philosophy of Democratic Administration
The Philosophy of Democratic Administration
Description
Publisher's Note

This booklet The Philosophy of Democratic Administration is a thought provoking talk given by Swami Ranganathanandaji, currently President, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission to the staff of the Mysore (now Karnataka) State Secretariat in the Vidhan Saudha Conference Hall, Bangalore, under the auspices of the Indian Institute of Public Administration, Mysore Regional Branch, on 19 February 1970. This now forms the tenth chapter of the fourth volume of the revered author's four-volume book Eternal Values for a Changing Society.

The problem of social, economic and political reconstruction of India in the post independence era has assumed gigantic proportion requiring the participation of not merely a few dedicated enlightened citizens but the active involvement of the entire administrative machinery both in the Centre and the State down up to the grass-root level. For this studendous task we require a sound philosophy of life that can bestow a visionary insight into the hearts of every administrator awakening his or her imaginative sympathy, in the words of the revered author, to sense the problems faced by the millions of our poor masses far away from the sites of administrative offices and centres. Such a philosophy is found in the sublime teachings of the Gita in its concept of rajarsi. The revered author convincingly contends that the mounting problems of our nation can be effectively tackled provided our politicians, administrators, and persons connected with the running of administration at different levels strive to become great as rajarsis. Brilliantly presented, we hope this book would become a source of inspiration of its readers.
