Description

About the Book

The temple is the most significant and typical monument of Indian architecture and admirable sums up and represents the subtle values of Indian culture. The elaborations of the temple structure followed the firm establishment of image-worship and the accompanying development of the ritual, which took time to crystallise. The present book on the temples of North India discusses the general characteristics of the North India temple, tracing the origin and evolution of the various temple styles in this region. It would help the layman appreciate better the architectural niceties found in these temples, and also understand their significance.

About the Author

Krishna Deva, formerly Director, Archaeological Survey of India, and later Director, Birla Academy of Art, Calcutta, is an eminent scholar of Indian art and architecture. He has made several significant archaeological explorations in our country during the past three decades, alone, or with other explores like Sir Aurel Stein, Dr Mortimer Wheeler, and N.G. Mazumdar. Having organised the Temple Survey Project (North Region) of the Archaeological Survey of India, he conducted a systematic architectural survey of the temples of North India in general and Central India in particular.

Testimonials

I am forced to believe this us scam due to their lack of support and response to emails sent to inquiry. I had ordered a product a month back and had also paid for expedited delivery via paypal. I have still not received my product, neither do they have the courtesy to respond to the serval emails and calls. I will never purchase anything from this website, want a refund and think this is a scam.

I finally got my nearly $300 Meenakari earrings today. They were promised in 4-6 days but it took a week for them to be shipped. Then it was 4-6 days. When I saw them I had mixed feelings. They are cute but it took me a half hour to get them in my ears as the posts are really large in diameter. I had to use vaseline and force them through and then the screw on backs (a good thing) wouldn't line up. There seems to be something inside the screw on locks that act as a securing agent. Any way most of the things I've got from ExoticIndia were gifts and acceptable.
