PLEASE NOTE! KRISHNA has never slept on the leaf and sucked his toe in any purana. It is BABY VISHNU. The artists need to check the Bhagavat and the Mahabharata to depict this form correctly. There are no peacock feathers etc but there is beautiful description of the Divine Child's beautiful body. There is a slight difference between the 2 puranas as in the Bhagavat, Balanarayan lies on a vata leaf while in the Mahabharata he is curled into a shankh. In both it is Shri Maarkandeya rishi who gets this vision of Vishnu's Yogamaya.
I have after considerable research followed by prarthana developed a small puja paddhati in praise of this rare form and have done a 31day anushtaan of it. Soon we hope that such a form will be installed in a private temple in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
