Shubh Laabh Prayers for Abundance

Any individual caught up in the pursuit of material wealth will be familiar with the words Shubh Laabh. We find them everywhere on the walls of homes shops and other work places with the traditional Swastik in-between along with the images of Goddess Laxmi and Lord Ganesha. They are reverently worshiped every morning and more so during Dasera and Diwali for it is believed that they augur prosperity for the home and business.

And why should we not? After all the acquisition of material wealth or Artha is one of the prime duties of a Grishastha or a householder for it is artha alone that will enable him to see to the welfare and progress of his family. Here we worship Goddess Laxmi or Sri as the Goddess of Abundance in the true sense. It is not merely abudance of money that she personifies but an abundance of good fortune, glory, purity, generosity, grace and beauty wealth being just an external manifestation of these attributes.

Hence the words Shubh and Laabh mean much more than were wealth or prosperity. The two words are inseparable because the Laabh or wealth that one earns has to be Shubh earned worthily in a manner that brings respect honor peace of mind and contentment to the household.

It is said that Lord Ganesha is capable of bestowing both Bhog (worldly pleasures) and Moksh (spiritual attainments) his worship results in counteracting all the sins committed in the past life so as the enjoy to the fullest all the wealth prosperity and all pleasure in this life thus paving the way for total fulfillments and ultimately spiritual elevation. I wanted to let you know how happy we are with our framed pieces of Shree Durga and Shree Kali. Thank you and thank your framers for us. By the way, this month we offered a Puja and Yagna to the Ardhanarishwara murti we purchased from you last November. The Brahmin priest, Shree Vivek Godbol, who was visiting LA preformed the rites. He really loved our murti and thought it very paka. I am so happy to have found your site , it is very paka and trustworthy. Plus such great packing and quick shipping.
