Swaranubhooti

An album comprising Hindustani classical compositions by celebrated artist Sawami Shende Sathaye. Sawani has composed many 'Bandishs' and has also penned a book titled 'Hridayswar'. Comprising 40 comositions by Sawani herself and her grandmother and Guru Smt. Kusum Shende. The book was released in August 2008. Sawani presents some of those unique compositions in this album. Despite the simplicity in the lyrics, these compositions are very rich in musical value and are in tune with classical raga values.

Sawani hs enthralled audiences with her new compositions during concerts and this album recreates that magic.

1.Raag Raageshri:

Raag Raageshri is a soothing night melody. The Khayal 'Ae Sakhi Naa Aaye Piya' emotes the sad mood of a maiden who is waiting for her lover to return home or at least send her a message of his wellbeing.
The Drut composition ' More Nainava Taras Gaye Ri' set to teentaal also reveals the same mood of the maiden waiting for her love. She is alone, but then suddenly the clouds above also begin to pour down and then she feels that the rain is her only companion now, who, like her, has started crying, unable to control the emotions.

Khayal composed by Smt. Kusum Shende, Drut composed by Sawani Shende Sathaye.

2.Raag Dhaani:

Raag Dhaani is a unique and rare Raage which can be sung at any time of the day. The composition 'Chatur Balama Saiyan Mora" set to Teentaal starts off with a Madhyalaya and then advances to the Drutlaya to build up the climax. The maiden in the composition complains about her lover who has gone out of town alone, leaving her behind. She tells her friend how cleverly he promised her that he would come back early but hasn't heart from his since then. She complains that her lover does not understand her sorrow or else wouldn't have left her alone at all.

Composed by Smt. Kusum Shende
3. Mishra Pahadi Dadra:

Dadra is a form of semi classical music. "Man Mein Basi Hain Shyam Sauratiyan" is a Mishra Pahadi Dadra set to Taal Keherva. It reveals the state of Radha deeply in love with Krishna. She compares the beautiful image of Krishna with the clean blue sky above and is so lost in uttering his name repeatedly that she has forgotten the rest of the world. The misture of many Ragas other than Pahadi enhance the beauty of his Dadra.

Composed by Sawani Shende Sathaye

Footprints:
Born in a musically rich family, Sawani was introduced to Indian classical music at the tender age of six by her grandmother Smt.Kusum Shende, a noted singer of the Kirana Gharana and an honoured artist of the sangeet Natak era. Sawani's father, Dr. Sanjeev Shende, a disciple of Smt, Shobha Gurtu, has groomed her in semi classical genres like Thumri, Dadra, Kajri, etc. The quest for deeper knowledge of music brought Sawani to learn under the expert guidance of Dr. Smt. Veena Sahasrabuddhe, a noted classical vocalist from the Gwalior Gharana. Sawani made her debut at the age of 10 to celebrate her grandmother's 61st birthday.

The journey of concerts started when Sawani was invited to perform at the prestigious Pt. Vishnu Digambar Jayanti Samaroh in Delhi when she was just 13. On the same day in the evening, Sawani was honoured when she performed for the then President of India, honourable Mr. R. Venkatraman at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. That market the beginningto her long and illustrious career. Sawani's confidence and mastery in Khayals, her crystal clear diction and overall sensitivity in presentation takes every performance to a very high aesthetic level.

Her rendition of semi-classical genres highlights the emotive and expressive quality of Indian classical music and adds a very important dimension to her performance, leaving audiences spellbound. She has a number of awards to her credit such as 'Pandit Jasraj Gaurav Puraskar', 'Swaronmesh Puraskar', 'Vishwa Sangeet Ratna' and many more. She has released a number of albums. Which have gone on to become bestsellers.

She has been a part of many prestigious concerts both across the country as well as abroad. A very successful playback singer. Sawani has lent her voice for many Marathi serials and films.
