A large Kalamkari work, equally divided into eight segments, houses as many images of Lakshmi in niches. Each of them is seated on a lotus floating on cosmic waters. Lakshmi has eight forms and the forms are rightly called Ashtalakshmi. They are as follows - Dhanalakshmi; Dhanyalakshmi; Dhairyalakshmi; Shouryalakshmi; Vidyalakshmi; Karyalakshmi; Vijayalakshmi & Rajalakshmi. The eight forms of Lakshmi are the embodiment of agricultural abundance, auspiciousness, prosperity, wealth and royal authority.
This Kalamkari, accomplished in dull palette, predominantly uses blue, green and brick red.
