Amidst their unaccountable luxuries and material comforts, the inmates of the harem look quite regal. The scene is alive with a courtesan dancing and some more either singing or playing musical instruments. The tiled floor makes a perfect base for their activities. Inspite of all the merry-making, Nur Jahan and Jahangir, who are the man protagonists, are oblivious to it. The artist has provided them tunics of identical colours. Nur Jahan's head gear is a uniquely shaped crown and a bejeweled turban rests on Jahangir's head.
This miniature representing regalia is outstanding as it depicts beautifully modeled human figures, architectural elements and natural beauty in a distant perspective. If the right side is devoted to the door, arch and niches with decorative inlay work, the left side captures the undulating hills, the foliage monumental structures and above all the skyline which is charged with an ethereal sunset and approaching night clouds.
