Besides the worship of sacred beings in idealized human form, the divine is acknowledged in all living beings; there is no distinction between man, beast and bird. Hanuman, the monkey god, is given a chief role in the Ramayana where he is acknowledged to have assisted Rama in his victory over the demon Ravana, helped by his allies, the bear Jambavan and the vulture Jatayu.

This image shows the monkey god kneeling in reverence to his Lord Rama, with his hands folded at the chest. His short dhoti reaches up to his thighs, held at the waist by a jewelled gold belt. The shoulder cloth falls on one shoulder and across the other arm. He is adorned with necklaces, bracelets, armlets, etc. besides a gorgeous crown. Behind the crown is a halo, giving Hanuman a divine status. In the foreground lies his mace, his sole attribute..

The artist has used drapery to encompass the image in a circular plate. Beyond that are niches, painted in a manner showing depth. In those niches lie Rama's slipper and a copy of Ramayana each. Both considered sacred have a sprinkling of rose petals and garland to denote importance..
