What strikes instantly about this painting is the compartmentalization done with precision. The epicenter of the painting is Rama and Sita enthroned with the ever faithful Hanuman seated at their feet. Gods demi-gods and humans pay their respect to them. The rectangular section has a row of elephants, acknowledging the purana-kalasha, at the lower end.
Circles, squares and other geometric shapes form multiple borders around the main theme. They depict events prior to Rama's birth down to his exile and further incidents that led to the battle and defeat of Ravana. It is noteworthy that the artist bestows an important place to Hanuman and includes him in most events.
