In All Humility

Amongst all Hindu gods, since Hanuman is believed to help his worshippers out of all their difficulties and obstacles, more and more people have taken to him. His humaneness especially appeals to the mind of the common people.

Hanuman's head in brass conveys a considerable simplicity of form. It is not overburdened with detail. He wears a small crown and his earlobes are decorated with ornaments. He wears a tilak on his forehead. In art, Hanuman is always depicted with an ape's face. Here, his eyes look downwards, reflecting his superb sense of devotion. His facial expression shows that he is humbly aspiring to a higher state, by virtue of his good deeds.

Hanuman has become the apotheosis of loyalty and selfless service and also the god of the masses (Janadevata).
