Ganesha’s portly belly falls nearly to his legs while he sits with the right leg placed on the ground and the left tucked under him. His ever-obedient mouse sits near the left leg, along with his share of a laddoo. The Lord’s neck is adorned with numerous necklaces; with one long enough to reach his navel and another clinging closely to his neck. In addition he wears armlets, bracelets, and also the sacred Hindu thread falling down across his left shoulder. The hands hold the normal attributes – An elephant goad, lasso, laddoo and the gesture of fearlessness respectively.
The whole composition is carved out of a single block of ‘Kadamba’ wood, and was create in the city of Jaipur, Rajasthan.
