Foreword

Complications of diabetes stem out of its effect on several systems/organs in the body. The more dramatic ones one heart, kidney and brain are mediated through, besides other factors, the vessels. In the lower extremity particularly foot the complications of diabetes are mediated through not only the arteries but neurological damage and peculiar infection by organisms not otherwise infective in a non-diabetic. This triage of vascular deficiency, neurological damage and infection form a difficult clinical entity for the clinician to treat and for the patients to enduce.

Once again, the Ayurvedic treasures for effective efficacious, ever lasting and easily available treatment of diabetic foot has been unearthed the by Prof. J.K. Ojha in this treatise of masterly proportions in simple language and arrangements.

Nature and experiences are the two strong factors and the ability of Prof. Ojha to see seep in the past have produced this easily understood and most comprehensive work available on diabetic foot at pesent.

The review section is revealing in the properties of 'Manjishtha' recognized from Vedic period and confirmed by modern modern analytical method of the present times. This section is a treat to lead and absorb the treasure of information provided for 'Manjishtha'.

Prof. Ojha has added a chapter on Nama Vijnana (Nomenclature) helping the reader not of Ayurvedic background also to understand and benefit from this rich textual material recommended very strongly for reference material in the management of diabetes.
