About the Author :

Dr. Makarand Gore (56) received his initial education in Yoga from his Guru Swami Janardan of Nagpur. After complting his post graduation, he acquired education in Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy. Since 1975 he is working in the field of scientific research in Yoga, at Kaivalyadham, Lonavla. He taught this subject at G.S. College of Yoga, Kaivalyadhama, for 10 years.

The present book has received the 'National Award' in 1985. The technique, mechanism and the effects of Yogic practices on human body and mind have been explained in terms of anatomico-physiological principles, on the basis of the scientific research in yoga. The book has been translated in Italian, German, Marathi, and Hindi languages. Recently our President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam has appreciated the book in his letter (Nov 3rd 2003) to Dr. Gore. He writes regularly for many Yoga Magazines and Journals. He has presented research papers in many National and International yoga Conferences. He has conducted Yoga workshops and delivered speeches on the scientific and therapeutic aspect of yoga in India, America (1988) and Czechoslovakia (1989). Recently, in collaboration with his friends, he has developed a '3D Aum' picture for better concentration, peace and momentous meditative state, which has been welcomed all over the world.
