Ramacharitamanasa, the story of Rama, as narrated by the sage-crow Bushundi to Garuda, the Lord of birds, has been presented in this small book succinctly by Swamiji.
The book is sure to kindle devotion in everyone who reads it with faith. Those who can’t find time to read the whole of Ramacharitamanasa will do well to read this booklet to derive as much benefit as that would accrue reading the scripture proper.
Needless to say that Ramacharitamanasa is a very popular book loved by all. Its popularity is due to its lucid style conveying sublime spiritual thoughts to common man through simple stories.
As we all know, it is a great book. It is very difficult to bring out all the ideas contained in that vast treasure in a booklet, and it was decided that the different topics dealt by the poet should be narrated in small booklets.
The present book deals with the story of a Rishi (Kaka Bhusundi) becoming a crow due to his Gunts curse and how he attains eternal beatitude through the grace of Sri Rama. The author Swami Ramanujananda has made this book easily understandable through simple questions and answers. We have earlier published five of his books in this series which were warmly received by readers in India and abroad. Since this book is meant for the young and the beginners, we hope that they will make use of this fully and be benefitted.
Five books were published in this QUEST FOR series. At that time, there were suggestions that the Ramacharitamanasa also should be brought out in a similar manner. As we all know, Ramas story is narrated in that book. As it is a voluminous book and also many of the ideas contained in that classic are new, it would be difficult-to bring out a simplified version in one booklet. So, it is decided that different booklets are to be published on different topics. The story of Sage Bhusundi being cursed by his Guru and thus becoming a crow is not at all known in the South, this topic is taken first. Readers, especially young men are to be encouraged in studying spiritual literature.
Swami Swahanandaji and Swami Dayatmanandaji have given encouragement and help to this author in his literary pursuits. Mr. P.R Parameswara Kurup and Mr. Praveen Panicker are of great help. Mr. Prem Kumar Singh is keen that this book should be published. He has made arrangement for printing with the help of Srimati Sharada Vipul Bhalla. Swami Sakranandaji has taken the responsibility of publication. We are grateful to all those who have helped us directly or indirectly in bringing out this work.
