About the Author

Pujya Swami Satchidanandji, known as Anantasivan in purvashram, after a period of struggle and trials in his early life, came under the spell of the unique personality of Beloved Papa Swami Ramdas, Anandashram, Kerala in 1949. He was just 30 Years then.

Finding him to be a keen aspirant, Beloved Papa encouraged him to adopt Sannyas. He did so and dedicated his entire life to the service of God, by loving and serving others. Beloved Pepe_ and Pujya Mntaji krishhabai, through their loving care and concern, hastened his march towards the SOURCE of all sources. The path he adopted to attain the ULTIMATE was Nama Japa, Guru seva and universal service. He served the great masters, Beloved Papa and Pujya Mataji, with unswerving devotion, throughout their life time.

After the Mahasamadhi of Beloved Papa in 1963, Swamiji assisted Pujya Mataji in the day-to-day affairs of the ashram and in 1989 whEr. Pujya Mataji left her mortal coil, the mantle of running the Ashram fell on Puja Swarniji. Tnie to the divine SANKALPA of Beloved Papa and Pujya iviataji, Swamiji, with his exemplary quaIlties; has become the guiding spirit of Anandashram.

Foreword

An attempt was made way back in 1970 to bring out the essence of Srimad Bhagavatam by culling out most of the stories and presenting them in a simple language which can be easily understood by laymen. These stories were serialised in The Vision, the monthly magazine of Anandashram, Kanhangad, Kerala.

This compilation does not contain all the details in every chapter of Srimad Bhagavatam. Some portions have been left out. A suggestion was received recently that what was printed in The Vision may be brought out in a book form for the benefit of readers.

Therefore this edition is now brought out in the hope that it would find a place in each household so that, everyone in the house can read through and understand the basic teachings and the eternal message of Srimad Bhagavatam.
