The present book is basically intended for the Under Graduate student of Ayurveda studying in 3rd year B.A.M.S. Aspects of primary health care system in India, Mother and child health, National health programme, Health administration are explained briefly. Highlighted all most all the concepts of Swastavritta and Yoga in a simple language with illustration of tables, chart and images.

 

About the Author

Dr. Bargale Sushant Sukumar, Born in Sangli Maharashtra. He has been meritorious student throughout his career. He completed Graduation (2006) and Post Graduation (2010) from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science, Bangalore, Karnataka. He has Mster's in Yoga (M.Sc. Yoga) from Periyar University (PRIDE), Salem Tamil Nadu in 2016.

At present he is positioned as Assistant Professor in the Department of Swasthavritta and Consultant at S.D.M. College of Ayurveda and Hospital, Hassan, Karnataka. He has published many articles in National and International peer reviewed journals.

Dr. hashirekha H. K., Born in Hassan, Kanataka. She has completed Graduation (2006) and Post Graduation (2010) from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science, Bangalore, Karataka. She has completed M.A. (Ssanskrit) from Karnataka State Open University Mysore, Karnataka and pursuing Ph.D. in Ayurveda (Samhita) from Tilak Maharastra Vidyapeetha, Pune, Maharastra.

Currently she is working as Associate Professor in the Department of Samhita-Siddhanta at S.D.M. College of Ayurveda and Hospital, Hassan, Karnataka. She is an acclaimed teacher for Graduate and Post Graduate Scholar.

I am happy to write a foreword massage for "Text book of Swasthavritta" written by Dr. Bargale Sushant Sukumar, who is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Swasthavritta and Yoga, Shri. Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Ayurveda & Hospital, Hassan Karnataka, India.

There is a great demand for Standard English text books on Swasthavritta & Yoga written according to Syllabus of Council Indian Medicine New Delhi. The Author has highlighted the concepts of Swasthavritta and Yoga in a simple language with illustration of tables, chart, and images. The efforts of author are highly appreciable for compiling the references from various ancient Ayurvedic classics and the same in vary legible manner.

I have no doubt that, this book will be helpful for the under graduate and post graguate students and will be vary well acceptable by academicians and research scholars.

 

Preface

We are happy to present the standard text book on Swasthavritta, which will be useful for the students of third year B.AM.S. and post graduate student of Swasthavritta adn Yoga as well as to enthusiastic readers of Ayurveda. We have taken great care that all the topics mentioned as per the new syllabus of CCIM have been covered in this book. There are two papers of 100 marks each Swasthavritta and Yoga paper 1 and Swasthavritta and Yoga paper 2. Each paper contains two sections again part A and Part B.

In paper Swasthavritta and Yoga Paper 1 – Part A – Vaiyaktika Swasthavritta

We have described personal hygiene which covers mainly Ayurveda aspect prevention of disease dealing with Dincharya, Ratricharya, Ahara (diet), Nidra, Brahmacharya etc. Proper reference and Shloks have been given for the benefits of students while explaining all concepts of Ayurveda.

In part B- Yoga Nisargopacha, all aspects of Yoga and Naturopthy have been described in this part. We have described personal Hygiene which covers Yoga and naturopathy aspect prevention of disease dealing with Panchakosha Theory, Astanga yoga, Sat Karma, Bandhas, Mudras and in naturopathy Jala Chikitsa (Hydrotherapy), Mrittikachikitsa (Mud therapy), Suryakiranasevana (sun bat – heliotherapy) Mardana (Massage), Diet types, Upavasachikitsa (Fasting therapy), Visramachikitsaupayoga etc.

In peper Swasthavritta and Yoga Paper 2-Part A-Samajika Swasthavritta. All aspects of preventive measures form communicable diseases and non communicable diseases, food borne diseases, pollution of water, air, land, sound etc. Disposal of solid waste, Excreta Disposal methods, Occupational Health, Epidemiology etc.

Part B- we have described about Primary Health Care, Family welfare Programmes, MCH programme, Preventive geriatrics, World Health Organization, International health agencies, National Health Policy, Health statistics, Health Administration, National health programmes and National Nutritional Programmes.

This is the text book on this subject written in English language and hence will be useful to all students.
