Mahatma Gandhi, always a very busy man, spared a few minutes every day for nearly two years (November 20, 1944 to October 10,1946) to write down 'A Thought for the Day' -initially to console a bereaved Ashramite, the compiler of this volume.

This valuable collection of his 'Thoughts' is being published for the fifth time in its entirely in this volume. Each page comprises one 'Thought' in a facsimile reproduction of Gandhiji own handwriting, its transliteration in Hindi type and its translation in English.
