Waiting for the Morning Breeze is a collection of nine short stories originally in Urdu. This collection is remarkable for its nuanced style and the intensity of feeling with which it explores issues of human life and behavior. The trappings of so called evolving civilization, the dilemmas of the economically comfortable and forward looking man and the suffering of the poverty stricken peopulace, with their self-defeating life patterens are examined with sensitivity. The stories reveal an extremely alert and emotionally intelligent mind which is not without a wry sense of humor at the hopelessness inherent in most situations.

About The Author

Syed Muhammad Ashraf is a distinguished Urdu fiction writer. His first collection of stories. Dar se Bichhde (Separated from the Flock) was published in 1994, and account book, Numbered ka Neela in 1997, is a novella. Baad-e Sahitya Academi awaed in 2003. His work has been translated into several India languages. Baran Farooqi teaches English Literature at Jamia Millia lislamia. New Delhi. She has translated widely from the Urdu into English .Her Interests Woman’s writing and Gender Studies.
