Women's work participation has become inevitable in the present day context to achieve and sustain a desired level of living. Apart from economic reasons there are several other factors which have attributed towards increased work participation of women, viz., higher education, better job opportunities and changing attitudes of family and society. Whether women's work participation has a positive or negative impact on the quality of life is a debatable issue. Several researchers have made an attempt to study the problem from various perspectives. The monograph is an attempt to bring together the research carried out in various parts of the country on this vital issue. It will bring into light the regional perspective and would prove to be a rich reference material for the researchers in future. With the above purpose in mind the editors have made an effort to compile research work. Most of the contributors have based their papers on doctoral level research conducted at Home Management: Dept. Faculty of Home Science, M S. University of Baroda. While contributions of research work in other institutions have also been incorporated in the monograph.
