About the Book

Although born more than four thousand years ago, Patanjali remains contemporary- yoga has becomes part’s natural healthy lifestyle. His Yoga sutras form the bedrock of the logical approach to human development and his approach appears in therapeutic methods such as Primal Therapy.

Patanjali is the first person to apply scientific ides to the possibility of raising life energy to their energy to higher levels. And with the current renaissance of interest in yoga, his influence continues into the twenty first century. Making the obscure obvious and the complicated simple, Osho is reintroducing the foundations of Yoga in a way accessible to everyone.

About the Author

Osho’s unique contribution to the understanding of who we are defies categorization. Mystic and scientist, a rebellious spirit whose sole interest is to alert humanity to the urgent need to discover a new way of living. To continue as before is to invite threats to our very survival on this unique and beautiful planet.

His essential point is that only by changing ourselves, one individual at a time, can the outcome of all our “selves”- our societies, our cultures, our beliefs, our world – also change. The doorway to that change is meditation.

Osho the scientist has experimented and scrutinized all the approaches of the past and examined their effects on the modern human being and responded to their shortcomings by creating a new starting point for the hyperactive 21st Century mind: OSHO Active Meditations.

Once the agitation of a modern lifetime has started to settle, “activity” can melt into “passivity,” a key starting point of real meditation. To support this next step, Osho has transformedd the ancient “art of listening” into a subtle contemporary methodology: the OSHO Talks. Hare words became music, the listener discovers who is listening, and the awareness moves from what is being heard to the individual doing the listening. Magically, as silence arises, what needs to be heard is understood directly, free from the distraction of a mind that can only interrupt and interfere with this delicate process.

These thousands of talks cover everything from the individual quest for meaning to the urgent social and political issues facing society today. Osho’s books are not written but are transcribed from audio and video recordings of these extemporaneous talks to international audiences. As he puts it, “So remember: whatever I am saying is not just for you…I am taking also for the future generations.”

Osho has been described by The Sunday Times in London as one of the “1000 Makers of the 20th Century” and by American author Tom Robbins as “the most dangerous man since Jesus Christ.” Sunday Mid-Day (India) has selected Osho as one of ten people – along with Gandhi, Nehru and Buddha – who have changed the destiny of India.

About his own work Osho has said that he is helping to create the conditions for the birth of a new kind of human being. He often characterizes this new human being. He often characterizes this new human being as “Zorba the Buddha” capable both of enjoying the earthy pleasures of a Zorba the Greek and the silent serenity of a Gautama the Buddha.

Running like a thread through all aspects of Osho’s talks and meditations is a vision that encompasses both the timeless wisdom of all ages past and the highest potential of today’s (and tomorrow’s) science and technology.

Osho is known for his revolutionary contribution to the science of inner transformation, with an approach to meditation that acknowledges the accelerated pace of contemporary life. His unique Osho Active Meditations” are designed to first release the accumulated stresses of body and mind, so that it is then easier to take an experiences of stillness and thought-free relaxation into daily life.

Preface

Patanjali is the greatest scientist of the inner; his approach is that of a scientific mind. He is not a poet. In that way he very are because those who enter the inner world are almost always poets; those who enter the outer world are almost always scientist.

He is a rare flower with a scientific mind, but his journey is inner. That’s why he became the first and the last word: he is the alpha and the omega. In five thousand years nobody could improve upon him. And it seems he cannot be improved upon. He will remain the last word – because the very combination is impossible. It is almost impossible to have a scientific attitude and to enter the inner He talks like a mathematician, a logician. He talks like Aristotle, and he is a Heraclitus.

Try to understand his every word. It will be difficult because his terms will be those of logic and reasoning, but his indication is toward love, ecstasy, godliness. His terminology is that of the man who works in a scientific lab, but his lab is one of the inner being. So don’t be misguided by his terminology, just retain the feeling that he is a mathematician of the ultimate poetry. He is a paradox, but he never uses paradoxical language – he cannot. He retains a very firm logical background. He analyzes, dissects, but his aim is synthesis. He analyzes. He analyzes only to synthesize.

So always remember the goal: to reach to the ultimate through a Scientific approach. And don’t be misguided by the path. That’s why Patanjali has impressed the Western mind so much. He has always been influence. He has been an influence wherever his name has been heard because you can understand him easily – but to understand him is not enough. To understand him is as easy as to understand an Einstein. He talks to the intellect, but you to remember this: his aim, his target, is the heart.

We will be moving on a dangerous terrain. If you forget that he is also a poet, you will be misguided, you will then become too attached to his terminology, language, reasoning so deeply that you transcend it. You go through reasoning, you don’t avoid it. You use reason as a step to go beyond. Now listen to his words. Each words has to be analyzed.

This is to inform you that the shipment of my order has arrived in perfect condition. The actual shipment took only less than two weeks, which is quite good seen the circumstances. I waited with my response until now since the Buddha statue was a present that I handed over just recently. The Medicine Buddha was meant for a lady who is active in the healing business and the statue was just the right thing for her. I downloaded the respective mantras and chants so that she can work with the benefits of the spiritual meanings of the statue and the mantras. She is really delighted and immediately fell in love with the beautiful statue. I am most grateful to you for having provided this wonderful work of art. We both have a strong relationship with Buddhism and know to appreciate the valuable spiritual power of this way of thinking. So thank you very much again and I am sure that I will come back again.
