Book Description

About the Book:

Bhagwati Charan Verma (1903-1981) born in the Unnao district of U.P., lost his father at an early age and faced great financial hardship from childhood through early youth. Because of family traditions and the influence of Arya Samaj, he was educated through the Hindi medium. Later on, he studied at the Theosophical School, and it was here that he read Bharat Bharati and Saraswati extensively. His first poem was published in Pratap. After that, he wrote regularly, covering almost all genres of literature.

He traversed a long road from his first novel Patan (1928) to Sabhinh Nachawat Ram Gosai to the highest peak of creativity. The publication of his Chitra Lekha, put not only vermaji, but even the Hindi novel on the highest pinnacle of success. His other popular novels include Tere Mere Raaste, Bhule Bisre Chitra (Which won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1961), Samarthya aur Seema, Seedhi Sachchi Baaten and Prashan aur Marichika. He has published many selections of poems, essays and plays. In his long and eventful life he was associated with many literary organizations. He was honoured with the Padma Bhushan.
