MLV – the name has always spelt magic in my home, a home that has been devoted to GNB’s music, over the generations. MLV was like a continuous breath of fresh air, wafting musically through home and garden, lingering in mind, in ice cream and jaadi malli, and in aesthetic appearance. Her appealing charm lay as much in her singing, as in her simple affection, her intellect simply stunning in all matters musical, and just as stunning in her naivete otherwise.

This book, and audio-visual for the occasion, commemorates MLV’s 85th years, the effort replete with precious inputs from family, disciples and admirers of MLV. The effort has been thorough, time-consuming, and energy gobbling; the end result triumphant and satisfying.

I thank all the people involved in this effort, and my daughter Nalina especially, for realising my design demands.
