Book Description
From Back of the Book

In any horoscope, the 1st, 5th, & 9th houses are considered to be the most auspicious on a It is believed that the soul enters the world through 5th house of Poorva Janam Karma to the ascendant in the form of, human body and exit through the 9th house after completing the Karma assigned for the present birth through 10th house. These three houses together constitute the spiritual or Dharma Trikone, which primarily aims at transforming the native to a higher stage of evolution through their Divine faculties and creativity. Their lords irrespective of their natural trails are favourable to a native leading to greater happiness. The ascendant is always the most beneficial house and its lord the most helpful planet, which guides and assists the native in all walks of life. The houses constituting Dharma Trikone reveal many special features of the native's destiny through his sojourn during the present incarnation.

As per classics, there are four goals of human life, Dharma, Artha Kaam, & Moksha. Classics have extolled Dharma & Moksha and looks down Artha & Kaam. But Materialistic world of today has just the opposite view. Corresponding to the four goals are the four Trikones in any chart. All the four Trikones have their Apex in a Kendra house, which indicates the involvement of the native in immediate everyday life. There is no denying the prominence of Dharma Trikone, but to ignore the other three will be a Himalyan blunder In fact all the four Trikones are dependent on Artha Trikone for sustenance and all the progress, we see around us, originates and get accomplished in Kaam Trikone.

Preface

Astrology deals with the genesis of effects of celestial bodies including galaxies/ constellations (Nakshtras) on terrestrial beings and presents a pragmatic, scientific & logical conclusion of events passed or likely to be passed in our life. We don’t live on earth in isolation, but are deeply connected and finely tuned with the vibrations/ impulses in the cosmos. These galaxies rotate strictly following their own laws and the planets throw cosmic rays to one another through varied electro-magnetic forces. The motion of constellations & planets bring changes in force held, which in turn affects us. Moon’s gravitational influence is greater due to its proximity to earth and its relatively high velocity in the zodiac. The Moon’s nodes (Rahu & Ketu) are supposed to be gravi-magnetic cross roads in space. According to some astrologers, they also acts as a magnificent & selective mixer for all sorts of cosmic vibrations/ impulses from all cosmic bodies including extra-saturnine planets, before they reach the surface of earth. This is why in Vedic astrology planets beyond Saturn are not considered.

A horoscope is basically a map of the zodiac at the time & place of a native’s birth. In a horoscope the 12 houses have reference to the material relation of soul in its journey from cradle to grave. In the process, each house has a definite purpose and significations to indicate, which include good as well as bad, in varying degrees. No one is certain why a particular event of human life is attributed to a particular house. However ancient sages must have had some scientific / logical basis for their allocation. The different houses in a natal chart and the planetary combinations with the houses reflect the eternal relationships, and are the basis upon which the nature of a native, his course of unfoldment, and direction towards which his life is moving can be known. The unique feature of Vedic astrology is the use of planetary dashas and transit, to get the timing for fructification of any result or the occurrence of any event.

The horoscope of a person is believed to be the balance carried forward in this life from the previous births. In other words, the previous existence is believed to be the cause and the present life is the effect of it, which unfolds slowly but steadily, making sure that no one escapes the universal law of Karma. Happiness/ unhappiness, gains/ losses, rise/ fall or honour/ dishonour all these are the results of the Karmas of past lives. The moment one enters the womb of the mother; one begins to experience the results of these Karmas, stage by stage, after they are enjoyed or suffered, they are exhausted. Saturn is the Karaka of all types of Karmas- past, present & future and ultimate cause for the present birth. In the journey of the present incarnation, Jupiter represents Jeev (self), progeny, nobility, wisdom & Guru; Sun-Atma (soul), name, fame, honour & father; Moon-Manas (mind), emotions, mother & changes; Mars- blood, blood relations, ego, body & husband of a woman; Mercury- Budhhi (intelligence), younger siblings, maternal relations & business; Venus- all worldly desires, enjoyments, higher education & wife; Rahu- Maya (illusion), diseases, unethical actions & foreign: Ketu- Moksha (salvation), metaphysical things, outcasts & Dhunda (cloudy nature). Thus the planets represent the Rinanubandhan (Bondage of Karma) and the Vasan (outer sheaths of the soul), with which one completes the life’s journey.

Houses 1, 4, 10, 5, 9 & 11th are considered good houses. Houses 2 &7"" are good for material & relationship matters, but are bad as they are death inflicting houses as well. 3, 6, 8 & 12th houses are generally bad. Their lords are considered sinister & malefic and will spoil the house where they are posited or aspect, except when they are placed in these houses only. However each house has its own charisma/ uniqueness. The nature of a House is regulated by the lord of the sign it occupies. The nature & disposition of the ruling planet will determine results expected of that h0use/ sign. Any planet in that sign will be influenced by this ruling planet called depositor of that house. If this principle is applied based on Nakshtra, instead of sign, it gives still more accurate results.

I have earlier dealt and put across my views on "Charisma of Trika Houses” i.e.6, 8 & 12th houses, "Charisma of Upachaya Houses" i.e. 3, 6, 10 & 11th houses and "Charisma of Kendra Houses" i.e. 1, 4, 7 & 10th houses. To complete the series, I now propose to put across the "Charisma of Trikone Houses" i.e. 1, 5, &9th houses, which are also called Dharam or spiritual Trikone. This primarily aims at transforming the native to a higher stage of evolution. Whether the zodiacal signs associated with these houses are ruled by natural benefics or malefics, every planet influencing these houses, will inevitably produce favourable results leading to greater happiness. The rulership of the spiritual Trikone enables the planets to transcend any adverse propensity and renders them beneficial. It is especially beneficial when the rulers of the spiritual houses establish a positive relationship with the Kendra houses or their lords. This produces Rajyoga and emphasizes close contact between everyday life of the native with his higher self.

However this study will not be complete if I don’t mention the role of other three Trikones— Artha Trikone (2, 6 & 10th houses), Kaam or materialistic Trikone (3, 7 & 11th ‘houses) and Moksha or Sukha Trikone (4, 8 & 12th ‘houses), albeit sketchily. The apex of all these Trikone lies in a Kendra House. The Dharma Trikone has apex in 15th house, and moving clockwise the apex of Artha Trikone lies in 10th, of Kaam Trikone in 7th and of Moksha Trikone in 4th house. Each Trikone comprises of a Kendra house, a Panphara house and an Apoklim house. The four Trikones are intimately related with each other. The study of any Trikone is not complete without considering the other three Trikone. Together they represent the four basic goals of human life, Dharma, Artha, Kaam & Moksha. Our ancient classics have praised the Dharma & Moksha Trikone over other two Trikones. However in the present materialistic world, everyone is overwhelmingly running after Artha & Kaam Trikone. Whatever be one’s priorities, there is no denying of the fact that all tour Trikone depends on Artha Trikone for sustenance.

The study of Trikone houses is based on the ideas of great astrological savants, which have guided me at various stage of the study. It is now almost impossible to identify which idea arose from whom. I am thankful to all of them and salute them with all the reverence. But the final form has an identity of its own written in my words. As far as possible, it has been the endeavour of the author to project the brighter side of all the houses and Trikones, with the help of 81 illustrations. It has never been my intention to injure the feelings of any native the least. However if by chance it has been done, I offer my unconditional apology for the same. I am thankful to my friends, Mr. Krishna Kumar & Col. A.K.Singhal, who have assisted me in every phase of the study. I can never forget the contribution of my ever enthusiastic grand—daughters, Monil & Ishita Singhal, who have encouraged & helped me (especially in computer works) in my astrological pursuits. I hope the book in its present form will be appreciated by astrological fraternity as had been the case with my earlier efforts. I alone am responsible for any shortcomings which may come to light. I will welcome with open heart, if the august readers share their opinions with the author and provide me an opportunity to rectify my mistakes.
