It is indeed a matter of immense pleasure to introduce this book to the readers. 'Bhoja Tantra' was originally authored by the King `Bhoja', some 2500 to 3000 BC. The king Bhoja was the contempory of Sushruta and was the student of kashi king Dhanwantari along with Sushruta (Prabhrutaya shabden Bhojadayaha ! Dalhan S.Su.1/3). His treatise mainly deals with surgical procedures and surgical medicine. Bhoja Tantra was very much in practice till the period of 12th Century AD as evident from the commentaries of Vijayrakshit, Chakrapani, Gayadasa, Dalhan and Nischalkar. But since then this important book on surgery had lost in the course of time. When we were the students during our graduation, we have often been told by our teachers that, many Ayurvedic Samhitas have lost in the course of time. It was since then there was curiosity in knowing and tracing these lost famous books. Although as students, we could not do much in this regard that time but the seeds of inquisition sowed in our minds that time, got ripened in the form of this book now. We have tried to reconstruct this lost samhita by collecting and editing the references made about the contents of the 'Bhoja Tantra' in various Ayurvedic commentaries. We were amazed to amass this huge scattered information about ancient 'Bhoja Tantra'. Some of the shlokas (verses) were repeated by many commentators. Some shlokas were complete. some were incomplete. Some of the lines of same shloka were in one commentary and some were in other commentary. The challenge before us was to analyze this information and to put it in order to give it a proper shape in accordance with the construct of the old Ayurvedic samhitas. After doing this, we gave the Hindi and English translations of the original verses. But at the same time we felt that it is necessary to explain these verses as some of them were incomplete and were not explaining the full meaning. So we incorporated our commentary 'Sugya' for better and meaningful understanding of the verses. We hope our small step in reconstructing the lost "Bhoja Tantra" will ignite many curious minds to explore the complete tantra. If our book can guide these inquisitive minds in getting the complete 'Bhoja Tantra' in slightest way, the aim of bringing this book will be fulfilled.
