Book Description

About the Book

“Karakavada” is one of the famous work authored by Sri Jayarama Nyayapanchanana-a well known Nyaya Philosopher from Navadvipa lived in 17th CE. He was disciple of Sri Ramabhadra Sarvabhouma-the grandson of Sri Jagadisha Tarkalankara. The present work was not so far available in edited form. This edition is brought out by Dr. Shrinivasa Varakhedi, with the help of his research associate Miss. Shivaja collecting the text from five manuscripts available in different parts of the country. At the end short notes are also added to the original text in places to be difficult to understand.

Director’s Note

We are happy to present Karakavada of Sri Jayarama Nyaya Panchanana. He was a pupil of Sri Jayarama Nyaya Panchanana. He was a pupil of Sri Rama Bhadra Sarvabhouma of 17th Century, from Navadveepa, who had made name and fame. The six stages form six Karakas, namely Karthru, Karma, Karana, Sampradana, Apadana and Adhikarana. The Characteristic aspects and their revised amendments have been discussed in detail in a highly attractive style.

It will be a big feast indeed to those who have attained proficiency in Tarka Shastra and Vyakarana. We happily record that this work is edited by Dr. Srinivasa Varakhedi-winner of Badarayana Prashasti by the President of Indian Republic.

Dr. Srinivasa Varakhedi has conducted a research on this work and has consulted many manuscripts to give the most useful references in the foot-notes.

We look forward to his continued research on many subjects to contribute to the world of philosophy and Sanskrit. We wish him the best future.
