Foreword

This book was with my father for a long time which is now out of print. This was completed from many sources by Acharya Ravi Dutta Shastri of Berigram and first published by Sri Ganga Vishnu Sri Krishana Das Laxmi Venkateshwara Press Kalyan, Mumbai in 1935. All the formulated medicinal preprations given in this volume are very useful for treatment, prevention and maintenance of healthy body. Two of my post graduated students, Dr. Padmini Rao and Dr. Prakash Despandeya of S.D.M. Ayurvedic college Udupi, Karnataka, who have successfully completed their M.D. in Rasshatra, with their limited knowlege of Hindi, tried to translate this book having many mistakes. After relevant correction in Hindi on the request of the publisher my name along with these two Post Graduates has been given as authors.

The original book was not clear as it lacked the exact address of the compiler and date of its first edition.

This book contains 54 preparations which are useful in fever cases. The latter part of this book contains many ways of Shodhan Maran Purification and bhasm nirman (mng) consisting of many metals e.g. Gold Bhasma, Silver Bhasam, Copper-Iron, Nagvanga Bhsama, Pittal, Kanshaya, Mandoor, Abhrak, Makshika, Diamond and kinds of many gems, method of preparation of Kashrus, various methods of purification of Hartal, Manahshila, kharpar. neelam, gairik, tutha are also given in details.

Though it is a small volume but very useful for physicians to utilize for the cure and prevention of various aliments. I hope this volume will equally beneficial the students of Rasashastra.
