Foreword
Sanskrit Sahitya Parishat, Kolkata, is a research institution of Indologica studies and researches focusing intelligentsia in pure academic programmes through 97 years of its existence. Several research Projects have been launched under financial assistance of Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, a Deemed University under Ministry of H.R.D., Government of India. “They contribution of the Traditional Pandits of Bengal towards growth, nourishment, and development of Sanskrit Studies” is one of such projects. It is a two-year project. It was started in 2011. The work of the first year is published as part I. The work for part II will be sent to press very soon. We are thankful to the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, New Delhi, for their help which encourages us to work in the field.
In fact Sanskrit has occupied an important place is the cultural history of india for many centuries and for the achievement the contribution of the Traditional Pandits of Undivided Bengal cannot be ignored. Rather their contributions of Bengal’s Pandits in book form.
Prof. Karuna Sindhu Das, Former Vice-Chancellor, Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata and Vice President of the Parishat deserves our thanks for kindly editing the work.
Among the eminent contributors in this book I can mention the name of Prof. V.N. Jha of Pune University, Dr, Nirmalya Narayan Chakraborty, Secretary, ICPR, New Delhi, Prof. Rita Chattopadhyay of Jadavpur University. Kolkata and Dr. Naresh Ch.
