About the CD

Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty, son and disciple of Shri Ajit Chakrabarty, received formal education in music from Rabindra Bharati University and became the only fellow of Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata to receive a gold medal. Apart from his father, he learnt music under the tutelage of great gurus like Late Shri Pannalal Samanta, Late Shri Kanaidas Bairagi, Late Guru Jnanprakash Ghosh and Late Ustad Munawar Ali khan. He Learnt Dhrupad from Late Uday Bhattacharya and renditions in different gharanas from various maestros. In the lighter music arena Pandit Chakrabarty is perhaps the only exponent of classical vocal music who has mastered the art of Kirtan rendition, Bengali folk music and Rabindra Sangeet from the experts in the respective fields.

With the urge to deliver nothing less than perfect, Pandit Chakrabarty has performed in innumerable concerts across India and the world. in the last few years, no major classical music conference anywhere in India has been conducted without the participation of Pandit Chakrabarty as the headliner and concluding artiste. It is his dedication to music that has made him the youngest recipient of the Sangeet Natak Academy award for contribution in Hindustani vocal music, amongst numerous other prestigious awards. Pandit Chakrabarty can also be credited for starting a rather unique musical institution ‘Shrutinandan’ that imparts taleem to a young student body of almost 900 children and 300 adults, utilizing the most innovative and scientific methods of teaching Indian vocal music. He has trained numerous students who are A-grade Akashvani artistes and well known performers, the most prominent exponent being his daughter Kaushiki Chakrabarty. Debashish Bhattacharya - a classical slide guitarist and Snehashish Mazumdar - a mandolin performer are two of his other students who are internationally known performers.

Pandit Chakrabarty has also authored books on music such as Shrutinandan in Bengali and English, Geetinandan Part-I and Part - II and New Passage to Indian Music.

It says that the devotee is the thread, God is the pearl; God is the light, the devotee is its flame; He is the forest and the devotee is the peacock. The devotee and the God are absolutely inseparable.

Jai Jai Devi

Swathi Thirunal of South India has written this composition in the praise of Saraswati, the Goddess of learning and knowledge. Her spell is endless and knows no bounds. Jaun Kahan

Jaun Kahan, written by Tulsidas is a composition seeped deep in divine love. Tulsidas, immersed in love, questions his Lord, where shall I go leaving You, He says - You are the last refuge and shelter of all created beings - gods, demons, saints, and animals. All are bound by your magical spell.

This is to inform you that the shipment of my order has arrived in perfect condition. The actual shipment took only less than two weeks, which is quite good seen the circumstances. I waited with my response until now since the Buddha statue was a present that I handed over just recently. The Medicine Buddha was meant for a lady who is active in the healing business and the statue was just the right thing for her. I downloaded the respective mantras and chants so that she can work with the benefits of the spiritual meanings of the statue and the mantras. She is really delighted and immediately fell in love with the beautiful statue. I am most grateful to you for having provided this wonderful work of art. We both have a strong relationship with Buddhism and know to appreciate the valuable spiritual power of this way of thinking. So thank you very much again and I am sure that I will come back again.
