Folk art is unique in concept and execution be it on walls or paper. In folk tradition, naturalistic effect is inconsequential-a fine example hereby.

A rectangle is divided into twelve equal sized rectangles. The artist had probably decided to fit each animal in its respective box, but did not stick to it while painting as these animals infringe on each others space. Some of them are identifiable while others are mythical and legendary.

The background pattern and color is similar in all sections and all animals are facing or moving towards the west. Other than an animal in one panel where it is seated, the rest have raised hooves depicting movement. The animals seem to belong to a tale being told. They all give the impression of being happy. Together, these animals symbolize power, strength and wisdom.

The elephant has half his body painted with red dots and the other half with blue. There are flowers painted on the body of the horse and the bull, emphasizing that the folk artist has not bothered to make it look realistic. He has decorated the forms as he willed it.

The lines are stable and confident. Colors are basic and no attempt has been made to mix and match them. The artist seems fascinated by the new sky blue color and has used it wherever possible but simplicity of color is the keyword.
