This painting, themetically belongs to the 'kohbar'. Bans is the bamboo grove motif, metaphorically representing the male regenerative energy. The bamboo plant which has a masculine gender in Maithili, multiplies and spreads rapidly and has therefore become associated with male fertility. The tree here starts with a broad base, with branches and sub-branches emerging from it. The artist has painfully drawn and painted each tiny leaf, thousands in number on this dense tree. The leafy tree represents proliferation and prosperity. It is dotted with tiny red flowers with parrots being symbols of love and the peacock that of eternity. The four corners of the main theme holds butterflies in attractive colours and designs. Though the butterfly is not a traditional motif, but with time, the Maithila artist keep introducing new subjects which are relevant to the theme.
The border is made up of black blocks divided sharply by a red line, holding a pan leaf each. The prominent colours used are brown, red, green and yellow but they are repeated in an attractive manner.
