Numerous myths in religious texts describe battles fought between Durga and the demons, the most important being the one against Mahisha.

The eight-armed Durga looks resplendent in the ornaments she wears and the weapons she holds. The fiery halo around her head, together with the numerous arms, encompass her enchanting body. She looks picture perfect in her role as the supreme protector-warrior-victor goddess. The expression and her pose give no evidence of ferocity associated with killing a demon. Her trident, however, is aimed at Mahisha. The demon, elegantly poised, shows no expression of fear of his life at the hands of Durga. Contrary to most representations, he is not shown emerging from the buffalo. The lion gnawing at the bovine is the only fierce element in the entire work.

On close analysis of this kalamkari work, one finds traces of the Tantric icon of the Devi dancing on the corpse of her husband, Shiva.

This is to inform you that the shipment of my order has arrived in perfect condition. The actual shipment took only less than two weeks, which is quite good seen the circumstances. I waited with my response until now since the Buddha statue was a present that I handed over just recently. The Medicine Buddha was meant for a lady who is active in the healing business and the statue was just the right thing for her. I downloaded the respective mantras and chants so that she can work with the benefits of the spiritual meanings of the statue and the mantras. She is really delighted and immediately fell in love with the beautiful statue. I am most grateful to you for having provided this wonderful work of art. We both have a strong relationship with Buddhism and know to appreciate the valuable spiritual power of this way of thinking. So thank you very much again and I am sure that I will come back again.
