In a tiled courtyard overlooking hills, walks a lady plucking flowers and collecting them in her odhini. She has an oval plump face having delicate features. Her limbs are long and smooth. The palms of her hands and soles of her feet are colored in henna. She is wearing ghaghra choli in brilliant colors. Her translucent odhini has a chequered border and the many pleats of the ghaghra fall gracefully over her broad hips. Her expression shows that she is lost in thought, although engaged in an activity of plucking flowers. She's collecting them to thread them in a garland for her lover. She is bedecked in numerous pearls and ornaments from head to toe - all ready to receive him.
The tree is not really laden with flowers and has sparse branches. The hills in the distance are lined with shrubs. The sky is red denoting it is at sunrise that this outdoor scene takes place. The expanse of the sky has been limited by a row of clouds. The subject of the painting is majorly important and is placed in the center. She is wearing bright clothes enveloped by subdued ones around. The linework is rhythmic and expressive. The flowering sprays and the flower beds hold an interest of their own. The top and the bottom part of the picture contain shlokas in Sanskrit, omitting which the painting would be bereft of greater part of its charm.
