Vishnu is one of the most prominent Brahmanical Hindu gods with numerous iconic manifestations and widespread artistic representations to his credit. He is the god of moderation, prosperity, and obedience to the traditional values of society.

In this painting, Vishnu is seen with his consort Lakshmi, the goddess of auspices and fortune. Vishnu's colour is sky blue, symbolic of space and the cosmic radiation is his yellow pitambera. With a serene expression on his face, he holds a conch shell (Shankha) wheel (Chakra) and a lotus (Kamal) in three hands and with the fourth hand he holds his consort by her waist. He wears heavy necklaces and a garland of flowers. Lakshmi looking benign and graceful lifts her hand in a gesture of fearlessness. In the other hand, she holds a lotus flower. She is dressed in fine jewellery from head to toe.

Vishnu's vehicle is Garuda, Semi-human and semi bird, swift as the wind. Vishnu is linked with both eternal antagonists, Shesha the serpent, representative of cosmic waters and Garuda, the conquering principle, and the snake's opponent. Folding his hands in obeisance, he carries his lord Vishnu and Lakshmi to their destination. What is spectacular about his image is that he has snakes for bracelets and armlets. His wings are spread so as to enclose the divine duo in his fold
