Ganesha, the elder son of Shiva and Parvati is one the most popular Indian deities. As his son Ganesha shares certain traits with Shiva.

Shiva as Nataraja, is often seen performing the cosmic dance, tandava, on the demon Apasmara. On a Kalamkari panel, Ganesha can be seen in a similar pose atop his vehicle, the mouse. Head in profile and the rest of the body in frontal position - a position executed with fine bends, raising his left leg across the right one which is slightly bent in a rhythmic pose. The six handed Ganesha holds various attributes in some, while using the others to denote dance mudras. He wears a tall crown and exquisite ornaments. An impressive 'prabhavali' surrounds him like a halo. Ganesha raises his trunk but not to partake modakas this once. The trunk curves upwards in rhythm with the movement of the arms.

The foreground has the 'mushaka' looking upwards and the celestial musicians playing the instruments to which Ganesha dances.
