Rajasthani paintings have vitality, sadly lacking in the late Mughal paintings. They look similar in form but are different in content. Bundi, a state of Rajasthan contributed much to Indian art in terms of style and left a stamp of its excellence.

Abhisandhita nayika is that classification of heroines where she is separated from her lover due to arrogance. The hero is shown walking away from her apartment in a dejected mood, looking back. After the tiff she has become despondent without him. Through the window she smiles at him, beckoning him back. Here she looks tremulous eyed and the faint smile which hovers over her lips has a charm of its own. It is the smile of gentle womanhood; the type of smile one sees in a jasmine bud when it slowly opens its petals. The hero is wearing a chakdar jama and turban of mixed Shahajahanai and Aurangzeb period in a slanting manner. It has a kalgi in front which adds to the ornamentation. He is looking back and regretting his decision to walk away.

The architecture predominates the picture but unlike most miniatures which are unable to shake off Mughal influence, this one reflects local architectural structures like ledges and domes. The foliage not only offers the artist opportunity to play with greens but helps in balancing built structures on either side. The sky is flat blue with touches of pink and its depiction is used to create the distant horizon and depth in the miniature.
