The pata-chitrakar paints religious motifs with devotion. But he treats art with more secularism. He involves the day-to-day life of the people as part of his thematic content. For the villagers, marriage is an occasion for music and celebration.

In this painting, the artist depicts a part of a wedding ritual, as the bridegroom takes home the bride. The procession is led by a band of musicians, playing the drum, pipe and a conch. They are facing the palanquin bearers, who carry the shy bride in an exquisite palanquin. The bride, wearing a traditional red saree, covers her head and partially her face. The other two bearers carry the palanquin from behind. A couple of men can be seen carrying the luggage belonging to the couple. The bridegroom follows them in another, less elaborate palanquin by four bearers, two in front and two behind.

The procession is passing through a lush green garden. Trees of varying kinds can be seen in the background. A few curling clouds are painted close to the upper edge of the painting. The frieze is closed in by a beautiful border.

This is to inform you that the shipment of my order has arrived in perfect condition. The actual shipment took only less than two weeks, which is quite good seen the circumstances. I waited with my response until now since the Buddha statue was a present that I handed over just recently. The Medicine Buddha was meant for a lady who is active in the healing business and the statue was just the right thing for her. I downloaded the respective mantras and chants so that she can work with the benefits of the spiritual meanings of the statue and the mantras. She is really delighted and immediately fell in love with the beautiful statue. I am most grateful to you for having provided this wonderful work of art. We both have a strong relationship with Buddhism and know to appreciate the valuable spiritual power of this way of thinking. So thank you very much again and I am sure that I will come back again.
