Mother Parvati is unsurpassable in terms of beauty and strength. She is fairer than the coats of snow on Her home in Kailash, powerful enough to command the mountains that surround the Mansarovar. Her husband, the Lord Shiva, is the formidable, all-encompassing, destructive Mahadeva (‘maha’ in Sanskrit means ‘great’), whose divine vigour penetrates all the lokas (realms of existence). Chokers fashioned from burnished gold clasp at Her long, graceful neck. Solid gold Jhumke dangle from the lobes of Her delicate ears, integral to the Indian shringar of the blessed sadhva. Her beauteous tresses are held in place by a thick gold headband with a maangtika resting on Her temple. The lotus-engraved crown on Her head doubles as a gorgeous bitone halo. From the handsome features of Her face to the shringar all over Her hair and ears and neck, Devi Parvati in this composition looks every bit the heavenly Queen Mother that She is.
